Somali Community Organizations
When large numbers of immigrants move to a city, there are community centres built for them. However, in the case of Somalis who are qabil obssessed, there isn't one large community organization that caters to all Somalis' needs, there are hundreds of small ones, each with their own agenda. The money that the government gives to these places, must be divided evenly between each place. Therefore, the more community centres, the less money they're given and the less likely that changes are made.
What is the point of forming these organizations if you have no desire to help Somalis integrate? Why is it important for each qabil to be represented when to everyone else we're all seen as the same? The cultural baggage that Somalis have broughten from back home as hurt as dearly in the West.

I have to disagree. We can acknowledge our differences (qabil) without being prejudice and secluding ourselves from each other. Our differences should make us stronger.

Somalis are not united, they will look at the qabil of the community leader, before his name.

How do we change this mentality of Somalis? We can't just say, well that's the way it is. We can't accept the status quo. If people thought like than there wouldn't be a civil rights movement.

Re: Somali Community Organizations
obviously there is also corruption in the administration of these community organizations, basic accounting is overlooked and sometimes not even reported and/or made up and favors are given to some based on clan affiliations and not on need. i hear stories about masjid leaders using the masjid money to pay thier phone bills and run errands, this is money collected from individuals to build and hold islamic classes on weekends, about a month ago there was another story about a woman buying her family a $600,000 house, sending her kids to private schools and driving a $44,000 car and she was the head of the community organization. this has to be stopped!

Yeah bro thats a shame, every community leader wants to eat off the community and make sure their family is comfortable.
