The greatest farewell

Post by mcali »

When OliveOil said that she has been trying to leave snet for a long time it got me thinking. Compared to most members I have been on here a fairly short time. What I did was type in the search box "farewell" and looked at all the usernames of people who clearly stated they would never be back. It turns out out of the 13 users I found that said they would never come back, only one was faithful to their decision. All the other ones came back for at least a year and some are even present members. The only member who after saying that didnt even log back in is "ka darag"

I believe if Snet has become an addiction for you, you must not give a farewell speech and then check it later. Once you got what you needed to off of your chest then never log back in. Maybe in the distant future as a guest but never as a member.

The reason I am writing this is because I myself wish to leave Snet soon after my 1000th post.
This is advice for myself and for anyone else who believes Snet is interfering with their lives in a negative way.

Thats all for now

Replace it with something, otherwise you'll find yourself returning. I don't see any sense in waiting if your objective is to leave.

I just really want to get to a 1000 post.
Of course I could do it in a week if I just randomly comment everywhere but thats boring.
I'll be an example for those who come to Snet after me.
It is possible to stop the Snet addiction. Whether we say it openly or not I'm sure we all feel it in one way or another.

What makes 1000 so appealing? You can comment in every thread, as long as you clearly state your opinion. I see no problem with that. It seems people get their briefs in a bunch over anyone who makes too many posts. Be an example by stating your opinion on varying topics. Don't limit yourself. I think that's the problem many of us have here. There's a clear division between users when it comes to subforums. Personally speaking, I've had my fill with certain topics over the years, and have grown weary of them. But again, don't limit yourself hoping to be some noble beacon for future posters. Trust me, that won't happen.

If want to stop it, simply cut it. Replace it with something you feel will be better and/or more beneficial. It isn't difficult to stop. But without replacing it, it will be.

In the end, we all have our hobbies.

I'm not knocking Snet. It has increased my knowledge profusely. And it is a great hobby but I have noticed that certain members who have been here longer than you and I want to leave but keep being pulled back in. I might not be an example for all but if even one guy in the future looks back at my post somehow and sees that I've managed to stay true to my word of leaving then maybe he or she will see that it is possible and follow the steps that I took in order to leave.

So, what you want to leave behind isn't a plethora of opinions and facts on varying subjects, but simply a manual on how to quit an internet forum? :|

It would be nice to leave behind my thoughts and opinions and have others learn from my perspective but there is a greater need at present.

Mcali, I agree with Alpha actually...if we want to leave, then we should replace snet with something else. And I know just the right thing for you and I...LOL. See, we both are Somali music lovers...we enjoy qaraami, oldies, newbies, wadani songs...perhaps both you and I can do something with that, TOGETHER...holla :D

Yeah thats actually a great idea. Olive I'm also getting a flash drive filled with songs from someone who is coming back from somalia within a week. I will make sure to share them with you and that can start our rehabilitation process.
