 sorry man...I guess the thread got lost in the shuffle. I got you though....what part of town will you be staying at?

First thing first, If you'll be by the east end, where I am, here's masjid abu bakar for your salaat

Image

located at 2665 Lawrence Ave. East in Scarborough.

There's also Abu Huraira in North York , mostly frequented by the somali community...it's near the DVP and Sheppard Ave East, at 270 Yorkland Blvd.

If you're in the West end, you'll probably go to Khalid Bin Al Walid Masjid

http://www.khalidmosque.com/

if you're downtown, there's a masjid by Bay street and Dundas
http://www.masjidtoronto.com/

to be continued...

You're looking for a place to shop...I like Yorkdale Mall though it unfortunately attracts a lot of the city's riff raff...it's right by the 401 and Dufferin

Image

you can also check out Vaughan Mills, it's further up north a bit but worth a trip.

Image

Right next to Vaughan Mills is Canada's Wonderland though it hasn't yet opened for the season . It's a whole lot of fun to be had there for sure

yes Canada is a very beautiful and rich country. some Canadian cities like Vancouver, BC and Montreal, Quebec are always in the top ten for the best cities to live in the world. i have been to Vancouver, BC and its so beautiful! However, Canada doesn't have what i like the most....and that's warm weather during winter. other than that, it is a nice place to live.

but the best place to live in north america is right here where i call home....southern California. i can't imagine living anywhere else.

If you want to grab a bite, I usually go to Hamdi...the one in scarborough is right across the street from Masjid Abu Bakar...the one in the west end is on Rexdale Blvd.

Most of the somali eateries are in the West end, so I'll let someone from that side of town to tell us about 'em.

There's a middle eastern Buffet joint called Jerusalem in North York

And a shisha/juice bar/restaurant on Lawrence East (if that's your thing  )

More to come later...

I remember praying at the masjid, Masha'Allah lovely masjid. I use to go to a halal restaurant called taste of new york or something, a couple of minutes walk from that masjid. Masjid abu huraira was nice as well, I went there for jummah salat.

Xamdis and etops were the best restaurants.

Nobleman,

That masjid is across the street from that residence I was telling you about, where brother man was staying when he came to town  . It's about 10 minutes from where I work at...

C&P...when you come to town, absolutely stop by this place

http://www.sgtsplatters.com/

Image

If you take a walk on Queen Street West, there are a few artsy fartsy shops and a couple of nice restaurants...Little India by Queen and Duncan is not half bad, their food is not halal but they have a vegetarian menu, or you can skip the spice and go around the corner for a fish Burrito at the Burrito Boyz on Adelaide

http://www.burritoboyz.ca/

Speaking of art, the AGO is five minutes walk from there, on Dundas and Beverley and the Royal Ontario Museum is just a bit further north, on Avenue and Bloor Street. The Ontario Science Centre is another place worth taking a look at

http://www.ontariosciencecentre.ca/

You should go by Kensington Market around Spadina if you're a bit of hippy and explore the rest of Chinatown in the same neighborhood.

If you want to go up the Tower, the streetcar that goes down on Spadina will take you there...in my opinion, it's a serious rip off , they charge you something like $30 bucks just to ride the elevator to the pod...it's free if you want to walk it though

If you're here in the summer, take the ferry to the Toronto Island, or go to Edwards Garden for an afternoon of bike riding...

More outdoors fun can be had if you want to avoid the crowded Wasaga beach...and you're willing to drive a bit, you can take a day trip to Tobermory and Bruce Park...it's about 4 hours from Toronto

Image

Finally, you can always go to Niagara Falls, about an hour or so south of Toronto...again, if you're here in the summer, you can check out Marineland, the botanical garden and take a ferry right to the foot of the falls.

That's all I can think of for now...I'll post whatever else comes to mind later. Enjoy your visit saaxib!

Yeah brother an old hotel turned into university residents. I remember he was showing me.

Another great place is that little Island off toronto. You take a boat from the city center.
