Luq,

MSB was many things, its good to remininsce about the good old times. I was 11 when the war broke out, I've a very good memory of Somalia & Somalis. Contrary to what many confused people might say; Somalia was the jewel of Africa.

We had our problems, but we atleast ran a country. I'd all sorts of friends, neighbors, teachers, etc and I never knew their clan. That is how people were raised.

Now, even kids born in N. America know more about clan hatred than grown men, that is self-destructive!
Ali samatar carried out Xasuuq on Somalilanders. Under his order since he was supposedly in charge while siyad barre was incompetent and wheel chaired bound.... This is the marehan theory to get blood off of there hands...

He is hated by Isaaq more then General Morgan and that is saying a lot. Laughing
Unclebin, MSB should have stepped down after his car accident. That was his mistake.
That's because the less people obsessed with Qabalayad, the less likely they were to notice the rampant nepotism in his government. Clever fella that MSB was. Laughing
No, sxb! His 'WAR ON QABYAALAD' started before the nepotism scandals of the 1980s. Slogans like "Qabyaalad Waa Cudur" won him many followers.

Do you know who the first Eelaay man to be executed was? It was in 1970. The reason was because he killed another man because of Qabyaalad.

Luq

I admire him for his accomplishments as much as I dislike him for his mistakes. I'm just being objective. Anyways, Allah u naxaristo,

Unclebin, again I didn't say he was the Mahdi, but when you look at the overall piece of work especially pre-1986 it was pretty impressive at times revolutionary.

As for villifying him for 'loving power' and things of that nature, when you look at the climate of tyranny in the Middle East, Africa at the time and even today, he certainly doesn't stand out. Yes he loved power, just like anybody else. It seems his legacy will be pondered upon for a long time.

In any event I have to give kudos to Puntland/Somaliland for at least moving on with their lives and building something, instead of bashing a man who's been dead for over a decade and at the same breath selling Somali national treasures overseas at wholesale rates and dismembering a beautiful capital. Now if only the Somaliland group would stop with all the calacal in the form of War Crime tribunals and inquries on innocent Somalis. Wallahi a Dhulbahante mother was put in jail the other day on immigration charges in my area because her husband was tried and found innocent of war crimes in Burco in the '80s. They found out about her case and she's in prison now.

Also Unclebin you mentioned something about Ali Samatr earlier. If he wasn't an astute and classy political figure why then did your Adeer see fit to give him a post? Laughing

Luq,

A few years ago, I came across Indiana University @ Bloomington's collection of Somali archives. Did you know that they have the largest collection of Somali materials?

http://www.indiana.edu/~libarchm/somalia.html

I found on their website some digital materials (posters, pictures, documents) about MSB & Kacaanka. Some of the wordings on those posters were very creative & advocated for Pan-Africanism.

I am trying to find the exact link to those materials, will post as soon as I find it!

Do you know anything about the Majerten dominated administration that preceded the Kacaan? I wouldn't be talking about nepotism and corruption if I were you.

Koronto

Jaale I wasn't fortunate enough to actually serve when the SNA had a purpose (1969-1985). But I did stay at a Holiday Inn.

XoogSADE,

I always thought you used to be in the military, my bad! I used to go by the nick Muslim-Man back in late 2006, during the UIC Vs. TFG battles, we used to have some serious debates, do you remember? Laughing
