[quote="Luq_Ganane"]OK, while I think this thread has its share of idiots and misinformed people, I'll do my best to clarify things.
For one before I discuss anything, let me make one thing clear: Wallahi I am in no way, shape or form bitter or sour on the collapsed Gov't. Only an idiot would dwell on the past, and collapse and wish for things that arn't so anymore. Leaders come and go, Governments come and go, and thats the way of the world. MSB lead the country for 21 years, a remarkable and unbelievable feat especially in Africa.
. He was the head of the whole regmie, and whether right or wrong will be responsible for everything that happned from Saylac to Ras Kamboni no matter who actually perpetuated those acts. Whether it was Sacad wearing Red Beret uniforms and xasuuqing Abgals in Xamar in the late '80s (fact) to make it look like it was Marehan, to Majerten army officers xasuuqing Habar Gidir in Mudug under the Gov't name, to Morgan (commander of the forces in Woqoyi) ordering the bombardments in Hargeisa, Burco etc. while MSB was still sick, all these things will go under MSB's name whether he was directly responsible or not. Fair enough. Thats why you don't see me in constant 100% praise for MSB because he was a head of state and he can be liked or disliked by anybody because we're all Somalis and we can have our own political views, provided there outlined in a rational and civil manner.
As for Marehan abandoning MSB and what not, lets get one thing straight: If Majerten coudn't prevent 1,300 of their old men, women and childeren to be massacred in one morning by that slut Qeybadid, or if they couldn't prevent 100 of their garads, to be put to death by Omar Jess how the hell would they stop an advancing USC militia? We just came out of Ramadan and theres no reason to lie. Any honest Majerten would tell you that it was armies from Gedo that expelled SPM from Kismayo, and Marehan and Lelkasse soldiers that came from Woqoyi under the honourable Col Cabdasis Barre that chased USC from Galkacyo. The only reason Majertens think that they can decieve people is because Morgan who happned to be Majerten was in the columns of the forces along with a few Majerten boys he was commanding. But why wouldn't he? He was MSB's friggin son in law and lived like fockin King Fahad in Somalia? He woldn't have any manhood if he ran away from him. As Marehan leaving Xamar, it was MSB himself through his army commanders that told Marehans to get out of Xamar ASAP, and 99% of Marehans were gone and in Gedo 2 weeks before the USC came to Xamar. Also your damn right I'm happy about that, because MSB was not a Marehan faction leader, or a Marehan warloard but a PRESIDENT OF A NATION. The oppritunists and people who stole wealth from the treasuries and national funds were from ALL qabils. There was no reason for Marehan civilians to stay and be slaughtered in Xamar when they were citizens just like everybody else. Anyway we all know the story, Majertens were running around Xamar after collaborating with Caydid and saying 'Marehan baa loo so socda, Marehan ba loo so socda' and what happned when the USC entered? They blocked all the enterences and roads leaving the city and they started hunting for Majertens. Wallahi I have family that never even left Xamar and were never ever touched, robbed, harrased etc. Infact a couple of Cayr and Duduble neighbors even got into a gunfight with some robbers who tried to rob the house one time. Also howcome the USC who totally skirted Cabudwaq, Balanbale etc. and went STRAIGHT to Galkacyo? There must have been a reason for that. So this goes to MJbride who's looking for Hawiye love, that these dudes not only don't like you, but would do the same and even worse tomorrow if it wasn't for Tigray. Good luck seeing if we help you this time. Also lets just use our imaginiation and say what if Majertens did save MSB: Whats more of a favor saving ONE man, or Marehan saving Majerten from extinction? As Dawlad said tomorrow we would have no problem sipping shah, and living in peace with Hawiye. The only problem historically and today Hawiye had with Marehan was just for the fact that they didn't want MSB (not a qabil issue), and the the battle for Xamar, and our continued rushing to save you guys. If you look at the battles Marehan (SNF) fought in the civil war and the areas the battled happned: Kismayo, Beled Haun (Hiiraan), Galkacyo etc. these aren't even Marehan degan. The only reason we were fighting these battles was because of survival of Daroodnimo. We fought USC once on our own turf (Gedo) and we kicked them out by ourselves, definitely without any help from any other Darood. It was in this battle where Mudane Barre Hiiraale and General Ahmed Warsame who masterminded the battle and strategy of every Marehan Subclan liberating their own town made a name for themselves to this day amongst Marehan.
Now that we got these two points covered I actually do agree with Somalistan and Pride on one thing: When the USC captured Xamar, they should have kept the whole Gov't together and took the presidency instead of going on the rampage they did. We might have had a Gov't today. Also on a side note, seriously you don't know how many Abgal, HG, etc. come up to my Dad today and tell him the virtues of MSB after they hated him yesterday.

I agree with most of the things you have said. Siyad Barre was largely a patriotic fellow before the Ogaden War. However, after the war and the ensuing betrayal of the nation by the two demagogues Aideed and Abdullahi Yousuf who used clan emotions to cause trouble for a legitimate government. I also agree that I had some relatives who were in the Somali government and let me tell you that they too stole money from the national treasury to fill their own pockets. The problem with Siyad Barre was that he used collective punishment to punish those two sick individuals' clans. Had he not used Jareer men to rape the Majerteen women and not filled their wells with poison and massacred whole villages, and also had he not done the same to the Habar Gidir, Somalia would have been different today.
I also agree that the Habar Gidir militias used to dress in army uniforms to massacre Mudulood people simply to stir a Hawiye and Darood conflict when the reality was purely a power struggle perpetuated by the two psychopathic individuals of Aideed and Abdullahi Yousuf. Mudulood and others of the Hawiye clan should not have fallen for their cheap tactics. Twice bitten, twice shy. Is it any wonder that no one is buying their stories anymore! I also agree that the use of force to dispose a legitimate government as the USC and Abdullahi Yousuf did was the biggest plunder of Somalia. It is only true that Somalis are just beginning to comprehend his words that a “bad government is better than no government.” Unfortunately, some have to learn the hard way.
