So, Bari has the least people? That would have been different if Bari had a river.

Northern Population has increased as opposed to southern population. Is it the effect of war. Also remember the stats doesn't into account how many were displaced or fled to a second and third country.

The reason the north is so empty is because of migration. Many northerners fled south in the last 200 years because of constant fighting (darwiish, colonialism, ec.), better job opportunities in the south, and better land. Its like expecting the White population in Western Europe to be higher than the Americas; fact is that there are around 20% more Whites in the Americas than in Europe. There are 30 million Irishmen in America as opposed to the four million in Ireland. There are 40 million (mostly Spanish/Italian) Whites in Argentina (98% of that nation's total population), few would have expected that outcome.

And FYI, if you check the next few pages, you can see that it is the south that will continue to grow in population, while the north stays stagnant, as opposed to popular belief.

Besides, there's less vegetation in the North; it's mostly semi-arid. Check this map, and notice where it's mostly greenish:

No one goes scouting around a war torn anarchic country and does a head count. They all rely on local or regional groups and we all know as of now the northern ones have had enough peace to build two maamuls who blow their worth out of proportion.

In all the previous census done by the previous governments Benadir, Bay and Lower Jubba were the most populous states and north eastern regions had the lowest population as well as the smallest number of people per square mile. We all know this is the case today too.

[Xabashis are 87 million Surprised]

Not all are ethnic Xabashi; they include Somali, Oromo, Tigrey, Amhara and others.
