Somalia: People returning to the capital, Mayor says

(SomaliNet) The mayor of Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia Mohamed Omar Habeb known as 'Mohamed Dhere' said on Thursday that hundreds of displaced people began to return to their houses in the capital following shrink of the violence.
The mayor said his local authority will establish the security of the returning people and restore peace in the capital, according to the mayor's spokesman Abbas Galeyr .
"We are committed to secure the safety of the people coming back to their residences and make sure the peace in Mogadishu together with the society," said Mohamed Dhere.
This is the first statement by the mayor of Mogadishu on assuring the security of the Mogadishu people.
Despite this, there is still ongoing violence in the capital resulted from the insurgency attacks by the rebel groups on the positions of the interim government and its allied Ethiopian forces.
Thousands of displaced civilians still remain in the outskirts of the capital after they fled the almost daily attacks for their safety.
