salafi_student walalo im 7 pages late. but do you actually believe Somalis are arabs? or descended from arab?

Yeah, I always believed I was Arab by descent my family like wise, interestingly recently I came across few Arabs who changed my mind - may be they were ignorant I thought! and left it there. I also came across some black people who thought Somalis are not black and we Somalis have robed the Horn of Africa from the Bantus who were there before we arrived from the middle east.

Suggestion was made here in this thread that to divide Somalis into two types; Non-Arabs and Arabs, which I found it absurd because in real life and in the eyes of others we are seen as one people that cannot be separated in those lines - and in saying that we came to agreement that intermarriages made it difficult to have a pure Arabs among us in the Horn.

If one is picked then it would conflict with our race/ethnicity one or the other!

Wether Americans classifies Arab as white or as blue it matters little beyond their border, of course Arabs are closer to europeans in color ans somalis to African in color, its matter of geography it has nothing todo with genetics, look at the Omanis they are darker then Arabs from Syria, its all about locations and geography.

I fact one can argue Europeans are not white but rather pink the color of the snot of pigs, Porteguees and Swedish are not from the same color , one is pink and the other is redish brown.

Each somali clan has his own seprate origin , there was no concept called Somalia before the 1600's , all somali clan considered themselves a nation with unique origin , be that origin myth or reality.

Raxanweyn or Digil and Mirfle are not singular clans, they are a collection of somali clans who adopted farming , one can find almost any somali clan be it Isaaq, Hawiye or Daarood within the Raxanweyn.There might be less then 10% original Digile and Mirifle clans , its well known fact that 90% of Raxanweyn are a collection of clans that adopted farming and made some sort of union wih eatch outer hundered of years ago.

We are talking about 1000 years ago almost and its quite natural that a man who existed 1000 years ago could have decendant who number in few millions by 1000 years later. Genkis Khan has a decendan of 50 millions today and he only lived 800 years ago.

There are around 50 million decendant of Abu Talib world wide 4 million alone in Indonsia and Yemen of the same family, and that is from a man who lived 500 years before both Isaaq and Daarood , so if he had by now 50 million why not is it possible some men from the 700 Hijra and from 500 Hijra couldn't have fathered 6 million.I don't see any plausible argument from your part beyond negating historical records with no evidence.

Most all Somali's look alike. Some are more light skinned then others but none the less they all have the same features

Where did we come from, we've always been here. Some migration from Ethiopian low lands but we've been here for the most part.

As for Arab decendant thing, we have those tales too.

its just sad that we (still) to this say somalis orgin are in question. i think its somathing to do with our education.

had we written our history from time back, i think the answer would be easier,

frankly these genetic studies are unclear, where did hey drive the poll from ?? what clan , what location etc. How do they even obtain these samples, i have never heared of any study asking for somali volunteers.

I have no reason to doubt the somali story of Arab origin.
