NAYAA NAYAA NAYAA IYO WALIBA NAYAA

Postby peace- » Fri Apr 03, 2009 12:45 am

horta i'm not a particularly a rude person, im respectful to woman but what is wrong with calling a woman naaya. these days somali women are offend by the word. when you called them naaya they react the same way a black person would reacts when a white person calls them a nigger. however i dont understand what is wrong with word, it just the female version of warya but i dont get out of shape when someone calls me warya.

It's disrespectful to call a sister 'Nayaa'. Is like some one 'Yo' or "dowg', those American slang

look at this guy trying score cool points with the ladies.
sxb naaya is not disrespectful word, your mother was called naaya, so was your grandmother, so the word is not a slang
next very soon somali woman would find the word naag offence

ps. political correctness

The rule of the thumb is don't call people what they don't like. I am sure 99.999 of Somali females don't like to be called nayaa

Goljano, you call someone by their name.. waryaa/naayaa.. are terms meant to demean or belittle ppl. and is usually used for kids..

If its ok why dont you call your hooyo, aabo or adeer/habaryar or any man/woman you have some respect for..such terms??

captain that is women in the west, women only started to find the word nayaa offence when you came to west.
women back home dont find the word offence.
you should see how men react when a lady asks them not call them nayaa
in 2005 me and my cousin who live is somalia went to garowe, so there was few girls from america in the same house as us, so he said to one of them nayaa walaal bal cupka ii diib, and she said warya bilaa eedbaad tahee, mardanbee ha ii dhihi nayaa anga.and he was shock   look at time said waryahee gabdha miiyaad maagtaay intaan aan maqnaa and i said war maye laakin naagaha westka joogaa nayaa weey ka xanaqaan. and he walk over look at her in the eye said nayaa dadku waa labo, warya iyo nayaa, markaa hidii uu kaa jeexanyahayna nayaa baad tahay, dee laakin hadaad kus leedahayna noo sheeg, hiid kalena nayaa dadaa iska qaado
