What Dji posted is actually the one that is done mostly in weddings because it makes more sense to have a much faster beat in a wedding but traditionally the one cumar posted is the traditional one. Women tend to enjoy the first one because they prefer running around while men prefer the orginal the way i see it.

Horta how many types of somali dances are there (excluding niiko, which is just bootyclapping and not somali)
Theres Dhaanto, zeylici, ceerigaabo, any others?

I prefer the second saylici video, it seems more aesthetic.

There are many different types of dances in Somalia depending on the region and clan. In the South there are: Saar which is very popular among the Maay speakers of Baay & Bakool, there is Suroow which is common among Abgaal & Murusade, there is Waabaneeye which is found in Jubba region, there is Shiido which the Shiidle Jareer (different from Bantus) dance and they mostly live in |habelle regions. Then there's Dhaanto which is common among the Ogaadeen, Sheikhaal, Dir, etc.

Niiko actually originates from Kabeebeey and comes from Reer-Shabelle. Mushungula in Gosha also have their own form of Niiko. Reer Xamar & Reer Baraawe have a dance called Sharax. There's Shimbirleey which is common in Afgooye and with the Muruqle in Marka.

A Family Friend once brought a tape from Hamar and it had some dance called gamabala shimbir or something along that line and they were using umbrella's and than i remember something called Shirib or Shimbir also. My opinion no disrespect to anyone but i think the most boring is dhaanto. Its annoy's the hell out of me for some reason, i actually like southern folk dance better. much more entertaining unlike our boring segregated shit.
