Re: Sickest battle: Taliban attacking american base
They have seasoned guerrilla tacticians who fought in Chechnya, Somalia, and elsewhere guiding them; they have foreign intelligence and weapons specialists from Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq. You have a diverse collection of people aiding Taliban efforts so there's no shortage of ideas and tactics. Still, Taliban will go down in history for bullying NATO, the largest military alliance ever forged. A lot of these guys will soon be in Somalia once they wrap up their work in Afghanistan.

Some are already in Somalia but they'll never be able to duplicate their successes in Afghanistan.

The main problem in Afghanistan is that NATO doesn't want to fight. You have the US and the UK shouldering this enormous responsibility of transforming the Afghani way of life. In a way, the political situation in Afghanistan is akin to the one in Somalia. An incompetent leadership, a vicious insurgency and a brutalized public.paidmonk wrote:They have seasoned guerrilla tacticians who fought in Chechnya, Somalia, and elsewhere guiding them; they have foreign intelligence and weapons specialists from Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq. Re: Sickest battle: Taliban attacking american base
Why do people keep saying that Taliban have influence in Somalia and stuff like that. Actually, Somalis have more control of the Taliban than the other way around. Taliban are a local group supported by international jihadis, Al-Shabaab is an international organization supported by locals. Most Taliban leaders don't even speak a word of Arabic, even their amir hardly speaks Arabic. On the tier of jihadis, you have the egyptians and saudis at the top, then somalis, then afghans, yemenis, algerians, and all the little guys. I think we vastly underestimate the influence that somalis have on these salafi movements, al-itihad was around way before taliban or al qaeda, and somalis were having these fundamentalist revolts since 1819.

Re: Sickest battle: Taliban attacking american base
What I don't understand was the base overrun? If the US military evacuated the base, why didn't they take all of the ammunition? If you look at that video, you can see so many mortar rounds and small arms ammunition.HutuKing01 wrote:
