Man up, don't be such a girl
That implies that being male is better than being female; the quailities of the female should be avoided and looked down upon. Therefore these phrases are biased and sexist.
We should stop using them, especially us females, maskaxda eey naga gashey that we are emotional dim wits which is like saying men are all unintelligent brutes which may be true for some but not the majority, I would hope.

Actually, men need women more than women need men. There are plenty of species that work well enough with only females.

No, it just means some traits are more feminine and are meant for women (gossiping, jealousy, weakness, etc.)

It's a well known fact that men gossip more than females.. Snet is a prime example..

Well those men need to man up and stop being such girls.
Still, I'm talking in ideals.

Patriot How do you know that, garba saar intaad isku soo duduubtid maad sheekada gees ka dhageysataa?
YFresh thank you for making my point. Those are sadly the qualities that men have, through the ages, decided belong to women, most are exaggerated and some are blatant lies. If anything, they are hardly the defining factors of femininity; good communicators, empathetic, good leaders, good organisers, good managers...only to mention a few. Telling your son not to be such a girl is a shameful and lazy way of trying to raise a man.Mr. Yungnfresh wrote:No, it just means some traits are more feminine and are meant for women (gossiping, jealousy, weakness, etc.)

If you want to know who is the real gossiper just visit your local Salon and compare it with your local Berber shop.

Emotional instability is a clinical symptom of hormonal imbalance and it has nothing to do with being male or female. Love of drama is a personality trait, look at you here trying to get a reaction, kiddish behaviour means a lack of maturity and as far as I am aware you are more likely to find guys playing XBox after the age of 22.Murax wrote:Mr. Yungnfresh wrote:No, it just means some traits are more feminine and are meant for women (gossiping, jealousy, weakness, etc.)

Being emotional, weak and dependent are all feminine traits. Men are providors, protectors and leaders of women thus showing feminine traits in a male is considered weakness.

Traits like jealousy and gossiping have been assigned to females because they inherently are not befitting of a heterosexual male, but are understandable (yet not necessarily encouraged) for a female to have.BlackVelvet wrote:YFresh thank you for making my point. Case in point: what would strike you as being more odd, a man sitting on the phone gossiping for hours or a woman doing the same thing? No one should be doing that, but one gender clearly has even less business doing it. Another example is crying...a man can only cry when a loved one dies without being seen as feminine, while a female can cry when she's happy/sad/bored and no one will blink an eye.
