There's a lot of scrap metal in Mogadishu.Would it not need a steel industry before there can be a ship building industry?
I would need many things. But do you believe that such a industry has a promising market in Africa for Somalis?Would it not need a steel industry before there can be a ship building industry?

Very interesting, i have underestimated Puntlanders.Bosaso has a factory that makes fiberglass boats. They import the parts and engines from overseas and assemble them in town.
Back in the day, people in the Bari/Nugaal/Mudug coast used to have large fleets of small boats (dhows) before the advent of larger steel commercial ships. The locals would find scrap wood from the floor of the sea and use slave labor to assemble the ships - the slaves were typically purchased in large numbers from Zanzibar by the Bari-based sultans and they would resell some slaves to friendly clans. Large-scale ship-building can easily take off in a region like Bari.
What's the point of building ships when you can get them for next to nothing out of the Arabian sea.
Domestic Shipbuilding Industry &Ship repairing Industry is vital for Somalia, as we have such a large Coast that is at the moment very hard to Protect. In Addition Somalia has 200 nautical miles of Economic Zone where resources are aboundant. Domestic Ship building can be a large export Industry for Somalia wich would certainly allow us to be way ahead other african states. But Export is not the only beneficiary aspect. Domestic production for Somalia´s NAVY wich would ease or atleast lessen our military dependence on Foreigners. What's the point of building ships when you can get them for next to nothing out of the Arabian sea.
this is the kind of reckless nationalism extremist that Somalis need to shun and avoid. do you think building ships is like building boats or dhows, they are many industries that need to be in place in order to be able to produce ship LMAO at the long coastline as if the long coastline itself will build ship. some people need divine interventionWith an Active Diaspora.
Longest coastline in the continent.
And many African nations with few boats or none at all.
We have seen how piracy has destroyed Kenya,Tanzania and even seychelles and Madagaskar. Piracy has also destroyed Nigeria, Ghana and Benin. These are countries with no patroll boats because of the cost and because of their weak economy.
What do you think, does Somalia have a future in Shipbuilding if there is peace and Strong goverment with solid institutions?
Does Somalia have a future market where we can sell Ships for much lower price then Non Africans?
What is your opinion
PS. Cargo ships included.
