Postby Coeus » Sat Sep 17, 2011 5:25 am

New Somali electronic passports are the one required, it has a blue cover and is much harder to forge. Immigration officials urged Somali citizents to aquire the new passports if they want to travel to HAJ, as many of them do this time of the year.

This is old news. The green one is only good if you are going to Somaliland because you only pay a $10 entry fee and is used by 99% of Somalilanders. The new TFG one costs $80 dollars and attracts a $30 fee if landing in Somaliland as its treated as a foreign passport.

The new one looks nice even  Its quite sad to see how useless the green one became considering the trouble it took to get it back in the day when we had a government.

If you travel to Xamar using the green one, it will be confiscated at the airport. You have to hide it.

I had relatives that used the green one to secure jobs in Saudi. In the late 90's come millenium the Saudi authorities started laying off somali workers with the green passport and it was such tough period for them that one of my relatives had to go to Addis to get an Ethiopian passport and in that secured his job.
Its really sad when Arabs respect Xabashis more than somalis.

Patriot,

You still get harassed with an Ethiopian one. Somalis from Kilinka 5aad are their worst enemies.
