Post your Somalia birth certificate guys, for those that were born in Somalia. Just to come clean, I was not born in Jigjiga but I was born in Mogadishu, during early-mid 80's.

Obviously this is not my original birth certificate. My original one got lost during the war. Don't know if it is fake, my cousin done it for me before I moved back. And I use it and still use it, nobody questions it.

Anyone who shows you a 1991 - 2014 Somalia birth certificate has shown you something printed from the Bakarah market.

I suspect only a few thousand legit birth certificates exist. Most people were born in the bush. My brother was born in Mogadishu in a hospital in 1981 and he didn't get a birth certificate so I suspect it was either a later practice or birth certificates were only given to some by chance

Aj, as far as I know everyone who was born in Somalia before the war, had a birth certificate. Me and my siblings all have our certificates.

Warsheekh, Ximan & anzeloti, that certificate posted here is typically the one Cabdalla shideeye makes.

hyper I believe you. I was born in the US and I'm a mid-80s baby. My parents were under the impression Somalia was on the heels of war (eventually), my father in particular was working in the UAE and you clearly can't be a citizen there. :Shrug:

He thought America was it, after reading Sidney Poiter's life story he discovered the world of birth tourism.

sopphi, hope you still have or can get your original birth certificate. i dont know i feel is my acknowledge i was here.lol

as usual, my father and his siblings do not have it. i suspect they shed few years off their accual age. cause with out prove its easy to forget time flying that fast. you still think , you cannot be that old.lol

I don't have one. I just realized this...It was always a matter of "Oh I don't have one, I was born overseas.." (And therefore have a citizenship card)

Now that I'm here...How do I get one?
