What do Ayan Xirsi, Iman, Mo Farah and Rageeh Omar...

Postby DrAideed » Sat Jan 07, 2012 2:02 am

Have in common?

Actually, what does every successful Somali in existence have in common?

They shun contact with other Somalis or are somehow geographically removed from them.

This includes marrying a Somali, being in regular contact with Somali family members or keeping abreast with recent developments in Somalia.

There's a reason behind it. After conducting a 2 year experiment I've come to the conclusion that success and happiness directly correlates with level of involvement in the Somali community.

If you want to have either, you need to adopt white culture and mannerisms. It's sad but true.

I have always believed that in order to be very successful in life, one has to compete with 'others'--meaning none Somalis...whoever they r...Somalis will always bring you down!!!

I consider it child abuse to inform a Somali child who lives in qurbaxa of their Somaliniimo.

If the Somali community were able to disassociate from Somalia and the Somali identity they wouldn't need anybody to give back.

Alphanumeric I apologize profusely if you took anything negative away from this thread.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with being Somali. I myself, am afflicted by it. I'm simply stating that you can't expect to be Somali and rich, influential, academic, etc.

Rageh, speaks fluent Somali even though he came to the UK as a child. This is the same man who welcomed Sheikh Shariff when he came to the UK. The man went out of his way to make a documentary about Somali youth violence in the UK.
Mo Farah, this is the same who is an avid supporter of SOmaliland, even taking his wife and kid back home; the same man who was interviewed on the Somali bbc and expressed his love for Somali music and plays. Heck, the man went as far as saying that he buys Somali ruwayado from Southall. Mohamed Farah is reported to be building a running school home. fock sake, the guy waved the Somaliland flag alongside the British flag when stormed to victory.Hardly isolation, eh? These people are "successfull" in their fields because they are hardworking and passionate about their roles. Mind you, there are many other successfull Somalis who are not celebrities and who do not shun contact with Somalis. Take for example, the owner of, er, erm, daah, DAHABSHILL. We own this intellectuall shiish mayn, war waxani maxay ahayeen?
