Going Native (Warya & Co.)

Postby AbdiWahab252 » Thu Feb 16, 2012 9:01 am

Gentlemen,

How native have you going living in Somalia ? For example, how have your views, mannerisms, work ethic and general demeanor changed since living among our skinny beobles.

I for one have got great appreciation for the simple things in life: getting up to live another 24/7, diarrhea free days, good health, nice entertainment. I have begun to go native in the sense I am much less stressed and less ticked off. Basically realized you have very little control of life and just to enjoy the ride.

Awahab, when it comes to customs and day-to-day interactions with locals, the learning curve has been very long for me. I still have a long road to cover. No matter how much I try to fit in, I always feel like I am a foreigner in a foreign land. What surprised me is that there's a very strong bond between among Diaspora ppl, regardless of where they came from.

I admit, you can't fit in easily :)
