We have a very interesting culture. The past couple fridays i have been going to Somali resturants after jimca prayer and i have noticed The workers there do not value customer service at all. In fact, somalis that work at Somali owned places place no importance on customer satisfaction. They joke and fool around with The customers. Sometimes they even get physical with The customers. as if thats not enough, when you buy something from them they dont give you your receipt and when you ask they say maad ka tagtid? i am not saying its bad but a little odd.
then go to MCD, they will ask politely "would you like fries with that" even though u just ordered fries. heck, i would rather be served by a rude person rather than a fool.

personally, I don't care much for customer service. gimmie my shyt, get your money and let me out. dats all dere should be.
I used to be polite, order and sit at the back waiting for my order. I would watch them take orders and serve other people that came after me taking their sweet time.
That was few years ago, now I enter the place anoo ceeytamaayo "waryaa kii africa shalay laga keeney aawey" then he comes and insults me. I order. I get my food in minutes.
I take the food back and say "warninyahow waani sidee, ma hilib la'aan baa nigu dhacday? waa maxay labada xaboo soosaartey saxanka" etc....
Somali customer service is an oxymoron. A Somali saying comes to mind - "dhar magal sida lagu gashto waa sahalantahay, lakiin dhal magaal sida lagu noqdo wa adag tahay. Basically, one can take the boy out of the bush, but it is difficult to take the bush out of the boy.
Being rude is nothing more than making up for some personal some short-comings.
The case is a two way issue. Yes, the Somali customer services in their restaurants is not good at all, they are clumsy sometimes but what I have noticed is Somalis don't give tips to these poor men When I left a tip for them people told me "Waad is gaala gaalayneysaa"..Tell me why is it ok to give a tip to others and not to our people

somali customer service is awesome because they are not selling you anything more than you expect, no fake smile or "how is your day sir" as if they care. they just put the pasta in front of you, if your lucky you get an "laftaa iskaa ilaali" or a little bit of "akuu saxaanin" if you catch them on a good day that is , on a bad day you get something like "waar qoxootidii kudaale wase mahaad qaando baaris kali udirsanee" . Wallahi its refreshing , no BS, good food cheap prices, lots of joking, its good.
Here in Canada, well at least my city, people are nice. They thank you and make casual conversation. Back home is another story I'd say thanks until someone said "tan mahadsanid leh uun yey ahayd? War dadkan dibada ka imid wa nasakhiin"

Loool, Sounds a lot like the ones in my city. They're big flirts too. They'll take the order and flirt, bring the food and flirt.... randomly come around and flirt! I'm talking odeyaal, wiilal dhalinyaro!
Am I the only one who has seen very polite Somali waiters and waitresses?
I've seen the crazy ones too, the type who walk around the floor like they own the place, but most have always been very nice and hard working and dare I say; professional. Maybe the decent Somali restaurants in the middle east, africa and somalia are just better, I dunno.
