Saudi Arabia's 'little Barbie' flees to the UK

Postby blackstars25 » Sun Jul 08, 2012 6:38 am

An alleged kidnap plot, a $490 million fortune and the Red Prince: royal rivalries force Saudi Arabia's 'little Barbie' princess into life of exile

She was Saudi Arabia's "Barbie" princess; the pampered granddaughter of the Kingdom's founder and daughter of one of his most powerful and favoured sons. Princess Sara bint Talal bin Abdulaziz, however, is claiming political asylum in Britain over fears for her safety back home.

So, you would rather that woman wear niqab? And if caught, you would rather Saudi government execute her for her transgressions?

i want all saudis, royal or otherwise, to be held accountable by the same laws. what is wrong with members of the royal family being held accountable by the same legal system they created?
In Australia, North America, Europe and developed countries, accountability isn't equal for all. The powerful, rich, well connected, etc can go around the laws. The poor, disaffected, disfranchised and minorities could be incarcerated for crimes they didn't commit, spend decades in prison before dna exonerates them. So, if accountability isn't perfect in developed countries, you expect it to be so in KSA? BTW, the word "Islamic" is nowhere to be found in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, whose system of governance is Absolute Monarchy.

The constitution of KSA is the Quran, all laws and legislations in KSA are derived from the Quran. The Royal family markets itself as the "custodian of the Holy mosques" , authority of the muslim world and what not. And I won't even respond to your comparison between how the elites in both countries are held accountable by their respective laws...akhas. i can name you one zillion western officials who were brought down by their own justice system but couldn't name a single one from KSA.

One evidence:
Misha'al bint Fahd (1958 – 1977) (Arabic: الأميرة مشاعل بنت فهد بن محمد بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود‎) was a member of House of Saud, who was executed for alleged adultery in 1977, at the age of 19. She was a granddaughter of Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz, who was an older brother of the then-King of Saudi Arabia, Khalid.

Can you name one Western official who was executed for crimes? Would any of the following war criminals ever be prosecuted?

She was executed because she didn't marry from her clan and instead fell in love with a lowly Lebanese man. She shamed her grandfather, who was brother of the King that was in the throne at that time. She never committed adultery; that is a lie. Her own family begged the grandfather to let her go but he didn't listen and told one of his grandsons to kill her in a parking lot.

Her only crime was falling in love with a man not from her tribe. It's well known that she never committed adultery. Her crazy grandfather was just a crazy qabiilist
