Let's say I get a Somalia passport fresh from the TFG. Can one travel with it in a legitimate manner?

Most European countries do not consider biometric passports issued by Somalia to be valid travel documents.
Only Switzerland and Austria recognise the Somali passports as valid documents for the establishment of identity.
Finland’s Minister of Migration and European Affairs Astrid Thors (Swed. People’s Party) has proposed that Finland recognise the passports. Finland’s Ministry of the Interior is now proposing that the Somali biometric passport be accepted as such as a valid document for travel to Finland, and as a basis for establishing identity when processing applications for residence permits.
Sweden’s immigration service does not consider the passports to be valid because Somalia lacks a reliable authority to issue the documents. However, although a Somali passport is not accepted as a travellers only document, Swedish officials can use biometric passports as backup for other papers.

Somali passport holders furthermore need a special permit to be exempted from holding a valid passport,
as Somali passports are not accepted by German authorities.

A statement from the Government of Canada explaining why Canada will not accept the Somali passport as a valid travel document states that, since 1991, Somalia has been functioning with virtually no government, and that satellite "Somali embassies" with no oversight from a central government have sold blank passport stock to finance their operations

This is quite disappointing, basically someone who grew up in Somalia and requests their god given right to travel and is issued a Somali passport has no right to travel except in shitty Finland?

Wallahi we have failed our people.

Many countries don't accept the passport because the Government doesnt issue them but they are issued at the market. It's a security risk. This will change though. We will have a new government in days that will be legitimate and will tackle this problem

I don't blame these governments, Al shabab can easily acquire them and export attacks abroad. But "security risk" shouldn't de-legitimize the entire Somali nation's right to travel.

Two passports are better than one.

Grandpa,

It costs about $90 last year and you can get the new electronic passport in about 1 day in Xamar and 4 days in Galkacyo/Garowe/Bosaaso. You can travel anywhere if you have a visa. Visa free travel to Djibouti which only harasses Somalis with foreign passports but leaves Somalis with Somali passports alone.

You will save a bundle in exit and visa fees if you travel often to and from Somalia. If you are serious and are in Xamar, let me know and I can get my friend to expedite it for you in less than 1 day.
