Not good to hate the ethiopian muslims, they are great people who taken care of jaafar binu abi talib, uthman ibn affan. (ra) the prophet prayed for their land and their king they are a people of rahma.

It was the eritrean Muslims that did that, hence the term "jeberti". We even have the Village where they stayed its called in translation "the Companions Village" or sahaba Village close to the ancient capital. The prophet pbuh prayed for the people of Ashrem Al abher and he is not in the ethiopian King list, the prophet daughter and his sahaba prayed against the ethiopian King for striking a deal with quareysh to invade Eritrea and capture all the sahaba and the daughter of the prophet. Negus Bahri or the king of the Sea Ahrem al ab7er ruled for 40 or so years you can still see his tomb in eritrea today, the muslims there pray for him as he declared he was a believer of islam (you can read his letter to the prophet on the net declaring his shahada), the prophet pbuh did an absent jenaza on him when he died. the eritreans priests today would tell you easily that he reverted to islam while the ethiopians deny this (its not even their king), lol their king name at that time was Estifanos the second may allah curse him for daring to attack the sahaba and Ahl al bayt. But ashrem and his army crushed them with the help of the Du'a of Raqiya RA and zubair among other sahaba's. There is no record of ashrem in all of ethiopian king records Nothing, while in Eritrean record the details is clear to the point to his daily life. He is buried In debarwa the ancient capital of Eritrea where he was King and also the Home of the Jeberti people.
 thanks for the info breh.

I heard that Ahmed Gurey actually visited the tomb of that King in Debarwa which was actually given as a gift to a relative of Ahmed Gurey or the relative of his mother in law.

Ahmed Gurey and the King of Midri Bahri (I think negus isaac) were allies and very close so it is possible. it was a shame they turned enemies later when gurey brought the turks (where they also occupied massawa) and all went downhill from there.

It's Ok. Even today you can still see it. you are not even allowed to build a mosque inside alot of the north ethiopian cities and towns how could they welcomed the sahaba 1400 Years ago. There was no muslim in northern Ethiopia prior to gragn Death so before the 16th century there was no muslims in Tigray or most of amhara lands.

Obsession goes both ways. I personally see no much difference between Ethiopians and Somalis. they are our brothers in more ways than one despite our minor differences and history.

DOES HE REALLY HAVE A SOMALI GRANDMother... Never head of a Somali obsessed with ethiopian culture..

Maybe he's a spy...

Also if he's Ethiopian Amhara mulsim ( never heard of that  .)

He should help free his oromo and somali muslim brothers and sisters from amhara christian oppression.

Also Somalis were first muslims in Africa true fact.

His story seems fishy,

also why the hell does he have Somali artifacts?? Where would he get it from if he is barley somali????? What the heck

fishy story...

I think he is a thief.

Also LOL @ Somali assimilating oromos, that will never happen. But I do believe we are the dominant group on the Horn.

Ahmed Gurey was being used by the Turks, they only wanted to gain control in the region. He even replaced most of his Somali soldiers with Turkish soldiers.

Great song!

The woman is half Oromo half Amhara just like entire city of Addis. You'll never see an Ethiopian artist (Amhara) from Gonder etc. which is a traditional Amahara town, doing an "appreciation song" though. The highlander Amharas still hear stories of Ahmed Gurey, so what do you expect them to think about Somalis. Habeshas, Oromo and Gurage living in Addis or Harar get along with Somalis. It has nothing with ethnicity, it's more of a class issue. The rich vs the poor, no matter ethnic group but back then the elite was predominately Amhara. The non elite Ahmaras suffered just like the others.

During the famine in Ethiopia during the 70's, Haile Selassie didn't care about anyone but the elite. Many Amharas and Tigrays died while Haile and his elite were stealing land and cattle from certain ethnic groups. The same famine occurred in parts of northern and north eastern Somalia. The socialistic government in Somalia resettled families from the areas where the famine was widespread to new settlements in the south, even teaching them farming and fishing. So that they wouldn't be dependent on livestock even though that was the traditional way of life.

I've never heard of Somalis being obsessed with Ethiopian culture, history etc. however some of their food is a big +.

Exactly. in the 1500's everyone was using everyone, it was the height of colonisation and expansion. No one trusted even their own let alone other countries.

No they weren't. some of the Bani amer Tigre were among the first believers ( they escorted the sahaba to the king) who later became part of the jeberti group and lived in debarwa.

Beware of ethiopians claiming somali/Eritrean backgrounds lately, they always say it to Eritreans and somali's, they have the need top claim something else to feel that they are accepted, if i would get a nickel for every ethiopian that told me he had a non ethiopian ancestory i would be rich by now.

Midrigeez,

Are the Tigray and Tigre in Eritrea related to the ones in Ethiopia and other Habeshas in Ethiopia?
