salool, I have relatives who have done this and alxamdulilaah they are happy. It is not a complete stranger, you meet them in the presence of their family and talk to them on the phone to get to know them. Also what's the difference to those who date, ileen that person is also a stranger - only difference the dudes who date don't want to marry they just want to get to first base aka score a goal

There's pretty much no difference between modern "arranged marriages" and blind dates.

horta why is marriages between cousins (not only 1st, but even 2nd) considered incest - ileen it is permissible in Islam.

As for this topic I agree that arranged (and not forced) marriages are the most successful.
Too much common ancestry. Would you be delighted if your children and the children of your siblings got married, had sex and reproduced? What if every generation of your descendants follows that pattern?

If that was the case then I wouldn't be bothered in the slightest, I have cousins who have married their cousins and their children turned out fine. It is unproven that this leads to disabilities/complications.
I'm not sure you'll understand seeing as we have different cultures, but tell me how do you think the first humans pro-created.

It may not always lead to complications or disabilities, but it doubles the chances (and this has been proven). Just like going for a cousin is better than hooking up with a sibling, getting it on with a non-relative is exponentially healthier than with a cousin. Regardless of what the culture thinks of it, the product of such a union is still inbred. Since you brought culture up, I thought Somalis had close extended families. In a close extended family, wouldn't a cousin feel more like a relative than somebody you'd potentially have sex with? I can't get my head around that. The children of siblings. Having sex.

PS. The earliest humans were getting freaky with whomever of the opposite sex was geographically closest, without a care for who they were. I can't see how that would, let alone should, be a measure of the reproductive proprieties. But alright

negritude, I was going to mention the progeny of Adam and Eve but didn't know if you believed in them so that's why I said the early humans.
let's agree to disagree
