Hi, I think there's a little bit of confusion about what's involved here. Google Translate uses a technology called machine learning to train its language engine, based on a large corpus of Somali text. Your help comes in by just rating the automated Somali-->English / English-->Somali translations as either:
- Excellent/All of the content is translated well.
Good/Most of the content is translated well.
Fair/Only some of the content is translated well.
Poor/None of the content is translated well.
All the translations both ways are generated by the language engine and aren't actually created manually, which is why they look strange at the moment. With more ratings by you though, the engine gets better and better. Soon enough--with your help--the Somali engine will be up-to-par with the dozens of other languages supported by Google Translate.
Machine learning is a great technology you use everyday to teach computers to think for themselves. An example of how machine learning helps in the real world is the
story of image captchas.
