MSB executed many Salafis before, so pressure from a king or crown prince to spare the lives of Salafis is a possibility. And BTW, granpa posted the same story more than a year ago, check similar threads.

i dont know about this specific case, but it's possible, as saudis in the past asked pardon for salafis in somalia and none salafis ulama. when my uncle jailed by siyad bare in 80s for khutba jum'a lecture. saudi government send request to pardon him and other sheikhs with him.

What about the 10 sheikhs that were hanged in the 70's after standing up against Siad Barre's statement on Sura Nisa?

They cursed Somalia before they died and look what happened to it, :wow:

the big mistake Siad Barre made was tampering with the Quran, especially Surat Al Nisa, by saying that both males and females are equal in inheritance. As you may remember, 10 Somali sheikhs who objected to this and made speeches in Abdulkadir Mosque after Friday prayers were immediately imprisoned and executed, and several hundred were imprisoned.

He went against this verse:

"Allah chargeth you concerning (the provision for) your children: to the male the equivalent of the portion of two females, and if there be women more than two, then theirs is two-thirds of the inheritance, and if there be one (only) then the half. And to each of his parents a sixth of the inheritance, if he have a son; and if he have no son and his parents are his heirs, then to his mother appertaineth the third; and if he have brethren, then to his mother appertaineth the sixth, after any legacy he may have bequeathed, or debt (hath been paid). Your parents and your children: Ye know not which of them is nearer unto you in usefulness. It is an injunction from Allah. Lo! Allah is Knower, Wise."

It's not very clear but I heard him say that women and men should be equal in the path of hormar and something about inheritance and when the parent gets buried the children should get things equally.

In the same chapter and in the same context Allah says:

These are the limits (imposed by) Allah. Whoso obeyeth Allah and His messenger, He will make him enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow, where such will dwell for ever. That will be the great success.

And whoso disobeyeth Allah and His messenger and transgresseth His limits, He will make him enter Fire, where he will dwell for ever; his will be a shameful doom.

I see what you mean, but he wasn't against that verse from a theological perspective. He just didn't want to implement it in his economic system, I mean he was a socialist after all. There are many things that were "going against" verses of the Qu'ran in his government but that's how it is in most countries of the world, including Saudi Arabia, they go against the equality of men and women and therefore in the sense being portrayed here against a sura of the Qu'ran.

Yes there were many things that were against the Quran in his rule but he made an open statement that goes against the Qur'an, so what if he wanted to rule it his way, socialist or not, he made it clear on where he stood when he said that, he mentions the quran " waxan nuuska iyo nuskaasi nagadaaya haddu qof dhinto gabartiisa...." he spoke disrespectfully of divine rules that Allah has given us, and Allah knows what's best for us more than you know yourself.
