What you saw is an island tradition for greeting a foreign chief. It makes about as much sense as greeting a UN delegation with spears and shields. Both traditions are cultural.

I remember reading somewhere that societies or civilizations which exhibited greetings perceived to have been abject by foreigners were usually quick to fall. I mean, anybody would have a field day taking advantage of and abusing the hospitality of an ignoble bunch that welcomed them by kissing their feet or carrying them on their shoulders.

The Aztecs told Cortes he was a God

:o U guys are soooooooooooooo clueless. Odeey Grant is trying to say that-- Somalis are NOT different from these adoons or primitive societies dancing and welcoming the white man and his wife. That is his point. Warsheekh who is an adorable lesbian darling----goes running producing photos of somali 'gashaans;' but that is not the thread Grant is looking for. :dj: The odeey didn't want to overtly offend, so he let the subject go. I think he was alluding to a photo posted here in somalinet, long time ago--not so long actually- where a white man from the UN I think, was being danced around and welcomed.

It is soooo orgasmic to see innocent, useless old man Grant interact with another innocent looking old man Xplaya. So charming and hilarious at the same time. Then add little miss lesbian Warsheekh who is definitely not innocent but a little bit clumsy and fears falling down on the ground, come into the conversation. Am I looking too deep into these characters? :stylin:
