Amharic isn't quite like Hebrew, Arabic or Aramaic. Although it's semetic language its a bastardized version of Ge'ez which is like Latin and how all the romance languages are bastardized versions. You don't have to believe me, its not like I am the one using an ethiopian word.

^^^if ONLY us, the oromos and other cushites who live and have lived in close proximity to the amhars use canjeero, then I'd agree with you. At least from common sense point of view, it makes sense. But cushites who NEVER came into contact with the amhars like those living in present day Kenya use canjeero too.

BTW, I speak little bit of amharic learned from living in adis ababa for 2 years. I can tell it is VERY similar to arabic. In fact numbers 1-10 sound EXACTLY the same. ask any amharic speaking person.
