Blair in peril

Postby Lord Diplock » Sat May 06, 2006 9:16 am

It seems the great liar is on his last legs. The Labour party has been humiliated in the local council’s election last Thursday and has lost a great deal of councillors and councils in the process (some for the first time in a generation).

Even though the demise of Blair must be welcomed by those who abhor this phony man, I was struck by the fear some in our community have expressed if the Labour party were to loss its grip on power in this country.

A young sister asked me: 'what will happen to us if they [Conservative] were to win the next election?'. I replied 'nothing'. I added they might cut back or curtail welfare to those undeserving and perhaps deport more failed asylum seekers (maybe the courts will not allow them to do this) Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

What do you think of Blair's fall from grace? do you care whether the Conservative were to form the next gov't? what if any change will we see happen to our lives?.

I happen to remember the last fag days of Major's gov't and I have lived under Blair's rule, there seems to be no big difference between the two. One thing is for sure: under this disgraceful gov't I am paying more in taxes than I did under the previous regime. Mad

I will rejoice to see the end of Blair. Smile.

I hope Bush's poodle goes sooner than later before he plunges us into any potential military campaign of aggression with his master against Iran. We Brits are only too aware that Blair can't resist just pleasing good master over in capital Hill.

Chancellor Brown to whom Blair's got to sooner or later hand over 10 Downing Street to is evidently no good either the son of a **%%!

I was glad to see RESPECT gain some council seats in Birmingham amongst other places. Evidently the RESPECT student supporters' final ditch leafleting around stations in central London paid off.

I was worried to see the Fascist BNP also gain some seats in East of London. One would've thought, the predominantly Asian East London would chase the Nazis out from campaigning there. Apparently not. Bloody useless folks! Useless I say!

It was also exhilarating to find that the bloody Tories had taken the council seats of my hometown of Hammersmith & Fulham.
But hey, all is not bleak I suppose, afterall RESPECT did make some breakthroughs.

Lord Diplock

What is so "hopeless" in your opinion about RESPECT's policies?

Is it our antiwar stance, our anti privatisation of the NHS and mail, our fight against the BNP fascists, our commitment to nuclear disarmament, our support for immigrants and calls to end the demonisation of the immigrant communities following 9/11, our support for the Palestinian cause, or our opposition to the proposals of anti terror laws that New Labour sought to pass in order to infringe on our civil rights?

Which one of those domestic and foreign policies of ours are you so opposed to that makes us "hopeless"?

DEMOLITION MAN

I was too young to recall the Major years, but I fully agree that Labour is better than the Tories (though recently it's become rather blurred as to the difference between them) but New Labour's shift to the right in recent years has alienated many people and has even boosted support for the far right BNP, hence the BNP's recent minor electoral successes.

It is New Labour's demonisation of immigrants and its anti-terror law proposals (of which most due to leftists in Labour's bank benchers was thankfully thrown out) that has given some legitimacy to the racist propaganda of the BNP.

Cheers for the Congratulations. We deserve it after our hard fought campaign! Go RESPECT go!
