Costa

Even a goat brain like you can be useful. That was brilliant and sad at the same time. I remember Kebebey being danced on parliament square by massed National Theatre troupes and it was mesmerising. women viewers fainted from sheer excitement and old dignified men were moved to sway uncontorollably as the volume built up to irresistable rhythm.

Intriguingly the musical intruments were basic: metal `clappers', drums of various sizes and the occasional firimbi. The begining was slow and groovy and then it built up to shameless, intoxifying, heart-pounding crescendo. By contrast they performed the regal slow moving pieces of Seylici and Hanna haybsan. I also remember Gabley Shimbir pieces danced while fountains danced on multicolour domes and the sea shimmered in the distance. Great memories. Fucked up.

Anyway both dance well.

The Egyptian chick was sexy as all hell, but the Somali women just killed it. No comparison.

Soma. dancer --- Music 5 movements 9, clothes 0, style 7

In some areas in SouthSomalia; girls are trained by their mothers to be good in "niiko" dance.
The bridegroom rejects and brings her back to her father if she can't.
