How do you become a somalilander?

Postby Badhan » Sun Jan 14, 2007 8:27 am

Do you have to be born there?

Do your parents have to be born there?

Do your great parents have to be born there?

Do you have to be Isaxaq Dulbahante or Gudarbirsi to become a Somalilander?

If you have Isaxaq Dulbahante or Gudarbirsi relative, can you become a Somalilander?

Does anyone know?

ItÂ’s about loyalties, and where your heart lies, and tribe has big part to play. Somali/Somalilander is not something physical but a sense of belonging; some people donÂ’t have that so have a whole in their identity box. Somalis have always identified with a territory, this is the same thing.

stay with somalilanders, learn how they speak, then move there and pretend as if you're one of them. no one'll ever notice. Smile
