Cab driver killed in Brooklyn Center
BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (AP) - Police in Brooklyn Center say a cab driver was killed while on the job overnight.
Police say they found the driver for Suburban Taxi dead on the ground outside his cab at an apartment complex. The driver's name has not been released.
No arrests have been made. Brooklyn Center Police and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department are investigating and plan a news conference later today to release more information in the case.
Police in several suburbs are working with colleagues in neighboring Minneapolis as violent crime rises in their cities.
Brooklyn Center Police Chief Scott Bechtold says crime is not just an urban problem. Authorities from Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park met recently with Minneapolis and Hennepin County law enforcement to plan a joint task force to tackle violent crime that crosses city borders.
The cities and county hope to assemble a full-time team of officers working together by this summer.
