Translating UK Forum Slang..........

Postby gedo_gurl » Wed Feb 14, 2007 3:06 pm

These translations will never be perfect as language is rarely translated perfectly, esp without context. If you have any new suggestions, or even perhaps corrections, feel free to post them here.

Here are the translations for those of you who get lost whilst surfing that area of Snet.

'Waste man' - I have heard this used to describe alcoholics/drug dependant people and socially indequate people, in particular; socially inedequate males.

'Ting' - Another way of saying 'thing'

'Buff' - In the US this was used to describe muscular people, but in the UK forum it describes any attractive person - male or female. Can be used in conjuction with 'ting'

.i.e 'buff ting' - attractive person.

'Butterz' - Unattractive

'Gash' - I believe this means vagina. Derogatory term and usually used alongside 'waste' - 'waste gash'

'Bare' - Many - 'Nuff' - Enough

'Suttin' - Something

'Alie' - True?

'Dont watch me' - Mind your own business, not mine.

'Batty' - Buttocks

'Batty-man' - A homosexual

Q_S/land...what is so funny? Smile

Qumanyo, abaay Im from London, but I rarely hear this type of slang. Its really interesting to look at this slang from a linguistic perspective....most is Jamaican patois, but there is even Spanish, Begali etc in there....all of it altered to sound cool. Its awesome! Im gettin bare happs! Laughing

I think J-Easy is from Yankland.
