Relationships - My Findings
Using the lottery as a metaphor I believe people seek relationships for the same varied reasons they would play the lottery*. These reasons have been divided into four wide reaching but simple groups.
Group 1: Players are very optimistic, they just know that one day their numbers will come up, they will not be deterred - the happily ever after romantics they want to find The One. For this they will take risks
Group 2: Know they probably won't win but hey it's worth a shot when it's over a certain number - they want a life with the house and the kids, they want The Family. For this they will make sacrifices
Group 3: Those who know they'll sooner get run over by car but like thrill of it anyway - they like the excitement, maybe the companionship, definitely the physical, but they Don't want commitment. For this they will be take no prisoners
Group 4: There are also those who don't play at all and see it as a waste of money - they dare not question the possibility of being wrong, they are Resigned to Solitude. For this they will ruthlessly silence the doubtful part of themselves
*For the sake of the accuracy of this extended metaphor we will ignore aversion to the lottery based on religion/principle.
Now figuring out what people want or don't want from a relationship(s) is actually not that difficult. We all want different things from life. What took me the longest to digest believe it or not is that it's a game of chance. There are absolutely no guarantees. Given then that refusing to play for this reason automatically puts you in Group 4 with an ever nagging shadow, which group can you see yourself in?
ps The lottery here obviously does not mean the lottery as we know it.

Twist definitely belongs in group 4
I think most women fit in the first two groups, in the sense we tend to yearn for that romantic relationship with the men we are with and want it to last for a lifetime. Also,By natural most woman want to be mothers and nurture children and be accomplished in that sense. I think every woman whether she is career oriented or not at some point wants a family and a house to call hers.

If you are going to get married soon you should spend more time here. Figure out what you're getting yourself into

I think most men also fit into 1 and 2, everyone wants that connection to someone special. But yes for some it's the someone(s) special lol.
But the whole game of chance thing...it doesn't matter how thorough your background checks are, it will not minimise the risk to provide any form of possible guarantee. That is peculiar.

Clueless about what, I'm quite the opposite from clueless, and fyi, I'm 18 I.e a young adult by virtue of british law which eliminates your statement in using terms like "kid" when giving reference to a knowledgeable, intelligent, handsome and intellectual figure, me.Jasmine6 wrote:The kid is clueless.
