Since, Dr Abdilahi Omar, nomination as foreign minister, there has been heating controversy regarding his experience and qualification: does his experience enable him to run Somaliland foreign ministry efficiently? Is he the right man with the right license to drive the heavy equipment? Many realized that he was never being a public servant in his life apart from secondary jobs in the Netherlands and the UK. Therefore; his experience was far below the required standard to hold such complicated position for a country fighting for its rightful position in the family of nations. In fact it was like driving trailer with small car license! Great number of Somalilanders and foreign affairs experts severely protested when he was misplaced but the president as usual ignored all.; in contrary, the president, I think, honored a tribe for the post without considering the nation-much sought mission: the recognition, whether he has genuine credentials or not does not matter to me, but one thing is quite outstanding after observing his debate one after the other at the Aljazeera English , EU forum, and International Republican Institute(IRI): he lacks oratory, elocution skills to tackle diplomatic challenges facing our nation. His crushing inexperience, too, undermined the nation's national goal of attaining independence. From London Summit to Istanbul, he didn't just returned to Hargiesa empty-handed but also everything he has done has backfired, therefore; his ill-service has to be brought to halt because Somalilanders seemingly can't bear his Sci-Fi movies of Indian-copycat style.
Reading his un-chronological bio in the internet, he neither mentioned internships nor high profile mentors from neither the UK foreign ministry nor any other international organization when he was doing his PHD in Political Science. Internships are not just prerequisite of all masters and PHDs but also essential in one's life to succeed in the real world. Books are not enough. .
But many readers get me wrong that I am against the minister either on grounds of tribe or personal vengeance, which I am not. Like many of you I did not know him till he became foreign secretary for Kulmiye like bombshell, jugsoodhacy. some readers argued my critical articles are not helping but making Somaliland's foreign policy crumble, and serving the country's enemies' interests, but I am yet unconvinced and want an explanation of how. If what they say is true why not demand people like him to other sectors in the government to crumble and stop insulting commentaries about Hirsi Gab that pouring on him day in and day out because nobody hates Hirsi as person but people knew him failing Somtel where it incurred losses of millions of dollars and then saw him running state affairs!.How time brings its change! Ka maqasha laga quusto ayay u dirtaa geela. Being a minister does not hurt me in any way, but imagine the country losing second golden chance after 1960 whose responsibility was taken by our ancestors in the BBC Somali program " Somali History And The Past Century " do we repeat the gaffes over and over again? Of course not.
Here is what international press and credible organizations, not I, wrote about him. The priceoil.com. on Fri, 30 July 2010 stated that in its front page ".Somaliland Predictions Bearing Out: al-Shabaab Terrorist Group Empowered; Ethiopia May React By Defense & Foreign Affairs "Meanwhile, Dr Mohamed Abdullahi Omar was named Minister of Foreign Affairs in the new Government, highlighting the fact that the new Administration places a low priority on foreign affairs, and intends to pursue its "foreign policy" within the framework of neighboring Somalia, Eritrea, and Iran." This is a clear message that the country took new shift in foreign policy and thus the Western powers are unable to deal with. On the other hand, we, Somaliland, are not realistic in pursuing recognition and independence! We want to have the best of both worlds; it is obvious that there is a demotion of vital lifeline sector, the foreign policy-a dangerous game- to Somaliland's survival as free nation as the guy lacks in vital tools to decipher the world. His predecessor, Somaliland's heavy hitter ,Abdilahi Du'ale known as "Dole Yare" who can articulate abstract ideas more than any other person I know excluding few notable exceptions such as Adna Adan , has won highly competitive job as Government Consultant to the government of South Sudan. Many international figures among foreign ministers applied.
International Republic Institute (IRI) credible think tank .September 15, 2011 published the following into their official website "Dr. Omar assumed the position of Somaliland's Minister of Foreign Affairs in November 2010. Prior to his service as Foreign Affairs Minister, he handled foreign relations for Somaliland's Peace, Unity and Development Party". Like many of us knew little about him before his arrival to Hargiesa, the IRI got to know him soon after his swift nomination. He jumped to catch the train from backdoor into middle of the steering, and that is his story. His past working experience is quite unknown for the IRI and Somaliland. In essence installing the wrong man into herculean task means we deescalated foreign policy of the country, in other words, we backed off our search of independence once and for all.
Let's compare Somaliland's official site of the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs which sounds more like selfish promotion rather elaborating visions and missions of the ministry of Somaliland with that of Somalia, the asleep nation that recently awoken. The site seems written in very awkward English? I guess, do we deserve a better public servant than him if available because our cause is more significant than someone losing job; anyway I leave readers to judge. But let's read here together and navigate the website: http://www.somalilandforeign.net/Pages/ ... olicy.aspx and http://www.mfa.somaligov.net/The%20Visi ... on%20.html
Case of Recognition or other sections are almost blank some say under construction with the misspell word! Very incredible, but his Photoshopped photos are at the top to see how he looks by foreign dignitaries! More like dating-site, very absurd! None of previous ministers before him and their information can be found on the site never mind their pictures. Somalia, a number one failed state in 20 years in row has better written and credible site worthy of visiting than ours! You may think my past articles were mere assertions but stop and think about these, you'll definitely agree with me if you are a rational person. His apologists will amaze once they start reading the "crab" site.
The salient reason for the public acquiescence of the ongoing diplomatic failure is the result of the cynicism in the government. They can't think of the government will come up with better one. But Adna Adan and Foosiya Haji Qabile , and Raaqiya Omar to mention few are capable to take the country from walled siege to international arena.
Ethiopian Foreign Ministry furiously protested against Somaliland's nominee envoy to Addis Ababa, Mohamed Hassan, former Kulmiye fan without formal training, but the foreign minister, Dr Abdilahi Omar uttered "he was honored for the Ayub tribe for the post like my position!" Addis Ababa, global diplomatic hub, very an unrelenting caused him to be replaced with Adan Nuh Dule, senior media man after growing pressure.
Dr Abdirashid, truly intellectual, State Minister for the foreign affairs, who overshadowed Dr Abdilahi's dubious activities and the latter thought him overtaking, the former is severely ill in London of unknown cause perhaps of evil eye and no new updates ever since he fell sick. What a pity! I never heard Omar speaking about his close colleague's health condition. How hateful he is! Is Dr Abdirashid dead? "Death levels all" but hopefully he is alive. Let me know his condition.
No international figure whether of his classmates or his colleagues or mentors have said they knew him. He is enigma; Dr Omar is new to both worlds: Somaliland and his hosting countries Holland or the UK. In contrary, farmajo, Somalia's ex- prime minister and deputy premier, their employers were amazed to know their junior staff became leaders of their nation and wrote an articles in the New York Times, and The SUN respectively,
His claims that IGAD's, regional block, acceptance of full membership of Somaliland drew fury rebuttal from the highest official, the Secretary-General of the organization, above all, Dr Omar's declaration that Turkey deputy premier would arrive to Hargeisa, the first of its kind ever by high level Turkish delegate to Somaliland, turned to be a fabrication merely meant to boost his domestic profile without caring about the country's image. As usual without embarrassments, he never apologized. And his trite empty slogan "the first time we did that or this" continues and is a good example of how he does not appreciate his ex-minister's legacy. He pretends he started his ministry from scratch. His weaknesses, however, are neither indefensible nor justifiable.
After his nomination, Somaliland Advocacy Group, British parliamentarians hardly met to campaign for Somaliland, Mat Brydon, former ICG official has disappeared; Dr Pharma, a linking point between US and Somaliland governments has appeared nowhere ever since, and last but not least, Bashir Goth, journalist and poet, Somaliland's ultranationalist has gone! After decline and decline in foreign policy, why people drew a line?
Of course there must be a correlation of the two or the minister has to tell us his version of the story. "A bad workman blames his tool" let's await his lame excuse to tell to the press next few days why Somaliland foreign policy collapsed.
Dear readers you should know his ambiguity, hesitation, and flip-flopping, and falsehood causes real pain to us all and undermines our independence, and finally threatens our very survival to be free nation in one day. His repercussions will stay with us for years to come. Is he an asset or liability to our country's future? I leave readers to determine.

Re: Somaliland To Dump The FM Minister
Oh pls and somalia is currently the greatest nation on earth?
the fm minister is doing an okay job...he has his strength and weakness, he's also young and relatively new and so he'll learn from his experiences.
haters are gonna hate....
