Recognition will be swiftly followed by IMF, World bank vultures. And judging from the inability to even build roads or sewage systems in 20 years, I doubt SL politicians will have the braincells to say fck off. It would be different if someone politically-savvy like Cigaal was in power.
Then why pray and dance for recognition? I have long suspected that SL can achieve most, if not all, of it's aims without formal recognition. If it threw itself fully in building infrastructure and training people for they last two decades, it would be growing exponentially. But instead, we get saddled with, like the rest of Africa, AID-addicted nepotistic corrupt leaders who would hand over the country to cadaans in a heart-beat. Just look how they report on and celebrate every non-entity gaal that lands in Hargeisa Airport. These people are still mentally colonised. The crux of the problem is mentality.
