Somali Media: Puntland left in the dust

Post by waryaa »

To my surprise, there are no Puntland based TV or radio satellite channels while Mogadishu and Hargeisa are well represented in satellite based media.

A side note, almost all large businesses such telecom companies in Puntland originated from Mogadishu.

ETN doesn't even have large subscriber base in Bosaso. You have to buy a desktop device pay 10 bucks a month to watch it in Bosaso.

damu, pland is doing great, no question about it but this topic is about pland satellite media. Look at this location on google maps (10'26'53.1N 49'23'23.2E) Then save the coordinates and wait for the next gmaps update. That's Pland's ticket to stardom.

BV, lol. I am still lost and don't understand why are these ppl so mad? Is it the first time some1 told them there's no pland perspective satellite TV? Instead of fighting we could ask ourselves some more suitable questions like: why? Do other channels represent Pland fairly? What is preventing reer pland to use sky birds?, etc, etc.

Guys, lighten up, it is not the end of the world.

Puntland based companies could improve in this area, for sure. Heard Radio daljir is looking at going satellite in 2012, and more are to follow suit. Good on them, & best of wishes to them. :som:

Its a known fact that a lot of the companies, (pick whatever field) in Puntland have started up from scratch & literally gotten themselves up there on their own. To say that their progresses are somewhat slower though, seeing how there's no rent money from houses looted/squatted coming in, or another man's stolen hard-earned wealth intially being invested in, may be true, but its also very misleading. :) . For now, since there's no PL state sponsored satellite TV available, the level of progress is left up to whatever individual owns the stations themselves.

I'll def be eyeing those coordinates in the future.
