This is actually true and I have said so here before on this forum. My brother who was there over the summer said Zenewi gives more special privileges and funding to the Ogaden then most other places in Ethiopia (although he has been building Mekelle for two decades now) but this rapid increase in trying to win the "hearts and minds" only has to do with one thing and that is fear. It started with the vocal CUD and Amhara opposition when Zenewi was brought back down to earth and he was reminded who the number one enemy of the Woyane regime is (Amhara) and everybody knows when he rode into Addis Ababa, the ONLF rode in with him. The only reason they seperated was when he refused to follow through with the agreed upon "self-determination for every region" plan. Now the Amhara are slowly getting the cajones back, he wants to offset this by pandering to the Ogaden so he would not have to concentrate as much military resources as there. An honest question for Ogaden,
What do you think about the latest TPLF published figures showing that in the last two quarters of 2006 and the first of 2007, the GoE spent more on the Ogaden region than even Tigray?
The ONLF is a tribal group nothing more, it exist to further a single qabils interest in the Somali region of Ethiopia. The aim is for this qabil to monopolize power in that region, because it believes that the current regime can be toppled. The method they use are despicable and the same is the Ethiopian regime. They provoke the Ethiopians knowing full well the reaction will be collective punishment for anybody Ogden. This atrocity is then used world wide to gain sympathy for the course and anybody donating will assume that its going towards people who are truly being punished by a greater force.Nomad,
Well put. I used to sympathize with the OG cause but no longer. I am in shock at their pathetic lot. Look at the deportations of the OG from Puntland. You would think that the OGs would seek revenge yet they do nothing. Somaliland deports OGs and they burn hundreds of Issaq trucks. You have the curious case of Bashir Makhtal, a OG sold off to Ethiopia inside Garissa, an OG city. Response nothing. 90% of the snitches in the Kenyan security forces are OGs. You would think that they would have made moves against their Darood enemies, yet nothing.
Murax,
What do Darood have to do with it ?
