sh sharif defects or flees in desperation

Postby sahal80 » Mon Aug 27, 2012 4:36 pm

it was alleged that they (sh sharif and gudiga farsamada) began arguing over the lost of his mps overnight and than he threatened them in a jihadist voice when he vowed to fight againist the "70 farsamada drunkers of xalane" he than sought shelter in a nearby the port in some hidden pockets that belong to his subsub clan millitia wich consist 400 men. Its the first time that he spends a night outside of villa somalia since he has been elected. his political future is nearly over after he lost his aala shaykh mps at the same time another candiidates from his clan are significantly increasing and more trusted by their own clan. Countries that has key somali role are now traying to back any popular candidate from sharifs clan because the other clans will empower the jihadists.

Even though I don't believe a word of this, the scenerio doesn't seem so surprising given the Somali context. This is why I never understand those who quip about Somali nationalism and oppose AMISOM in the present time:
As for AMISOM; I see them as a force stabilizer. Somalia with its current clan based culture is incapable of guaranteeing a professional security force which is united in being a pillar of the state rather than a partisan actor for internal factions vying for power. AMISOM guarantees that the short-term security of the rebuilding of the Somali state is independent of internal political movements with its ever shifting and unstable loyalities.

As an example, look at this declassified CIA observation of Somalia at the night before the coup in October 21, 1969 (even then the instability and dependence of Somali security forces on clan factors is apparent):

No. I'm just covering this election for this site.
