Open Letter for the Somali government / Amisom / IGAD
I am writing on behalf of our brothers and sisters back in the Shabeelada/hoose to express our frustration and in some cases despair of the treatments subjected towards the citizens of the Marka city in the hand of the Somali soldiers, the same forces that was suppose to liberate them from the suppression of Al-shabaab and provide them a just government.
The following article are a fact of the real day today life in Marka city and its citizens

Three armed men of the Somali military which suppose to liberate the city of Marka from Al-Shabaab, some about 90 KM south of Mogadishu Somalia, have been looting and rapped mother of nine and humiliated her.The women lived all her life in the central part of Marka and never expected any hostility from the Somali army forces, Mrs Fadumo said “I have survived 22 years of lawlessness and looking forward to freedom and government system but never so humiliated by name of the Somali military. “the three men have been identified and reported to their superiors; currently they have been transferred to Mogadishu for further questioning and reassignment to somewhere else. The news was published to the media by the newly appointed governor of Marka Mr Ahmed Moalin Abdirahman “Ukash”
The majority of the Marka residents are now leaving with fear and suspicion towards the real intentions of the Military after the ugly incidents committed through their gun point by some of their members.
Majority of the peace loving communities in lower Shebelle are asking the central government, AMISOM leaders and the world communities to protect them from some of their members with secret agenda/.
3) Somalia: Somali Armed Forces Clash in Marka
23 MARCH 2013
______________________________________________________________________________________
Marka — Somali armed forces stationed in the coastal city of Marka clashed on Friday leading to deaths and injuries, Google - Alert Online reports.
According to Abdiqadir Mohamed Nur Governor of Lower Shabelle region, government troops clashed after a faction with clan ties battled with fellow government soldiers.
Governor Abdiqadir requested that the Ministry of Interior and other government institutions tackle the growing problem of clan militia being incorporated into the police forces in Marka.
“This [clan militia] problem has grown. We are going to officially deliver our grievances to Ministry of Interior and the Prime Minister’s office. This problem has really increased tensions in the city,” said Governor Abdiqadir.
The casualties were not officially disclosed to media, however reports say that at least 5 people were killed and many more injured during Friday’s clashes.
Governor Abdiqadir said that the rogue government forces are still in Marka and that their presence could cause more attacks between the forces. He asked that they be apprehended as soon as possible. AMISOM forces stationed in Marka have begun mediating between the two sides.
The Somali Federal Government (SFG) hasn’t commented on the attacks as of yet.
The historical city of Marka had been under Al Shabaab control until August of last year when Somali and African Union forces captured the city.
It is simple really, Habargidir (Somali clan) is trying to force the indigenous population of the lower Shebelle to give way to take over their traditional grazing and township lands by all means including under the cover of the Somali army forces
Let us underscore that we believe in fairness and our honesty, Somalia has a law and order crisis, not simply a deficit crisis. Millions of Somalis more are struggling to feed their families and keep a roof over their heads. The can’t tolerate additional burden from their Army forces with secret agenda to displace and grab their homeland for other clans.
Many Somalis have lost faith and trust in the central government because they believe the old warlord tactics and few bad men with secret agenda who call the shots. Rebuilding the faith will take actions, not words. That’s why we urge every parliamentarian to take a clear two-part pledge to help restore trust and confidence in the central government. Specifically, we demand justice for the citizens:
1) 1) Increase the involvement and leadership of the indigenous people for their regions.
2) 2) Provide full transparency on all military operation with the traditional leadership of the citizens. why the minister of defense did not comment so far on the issue of Marka?
Simply put, at this time like no other, Somalia needs leaders that stands up for their citizens not warlords, and specially the people of Marka are waiting justice from their central government.
Kind Regards
