I cant think of a better alternative to Mogadishu to be honest, and i haven't seen major attempts by any factions inside to change the capital permanently. Its true that Mogadishu will always attract the most investments foreign and Somali likewise because the status, size and superior infrastructure. Nevertheless cities such as Hargeisa and Bosaso have recognition unlike before the civil war, they have experienced major investments, now have relatively credible infrastructure and large populations. and are a hub for companies and entrepreneurs.
This is why i think federalism is so important; these cities will not fall behind too much and experience a population shift so long as proportionate development by the local administration is spent. keeping these cities as relatively growing pace with Mogadishu is important.

I don't really care about Mogadishu. Its not my capital nor do I feel any connection to it. Anyway in the near future I believe Somalia when this federalism experiment fails, the country will probably be split into 3.

It should have a wall & gates.
Every day they should count the people out, then count them back in at sundown.
Sxb, do you know how stupid you look when you spend day and night laughing at peoples misfortunes whilst being totally ignoring you own reality?
What possesses you to be so absent minded about your own situation which in my view is close to catastrophic but have the front to have your mindset. You are about to join the aborigines and red indians in america. Wake up...

A lot is made of this place, and the place has many detractors some have legitimate reasons and some its just a way to slight clan wise. But truth be told, I've spoken to many people who have come and left Somalia and Xamar is simply on a different level than a Bossaso or a Hargaisa or a Kismayo. That said I think moving the Capital is a good idea for these reasons:

1) It would be interesting to see Mogadishu as the financial/economic hub without the burdeon of being the seat of Government. Furthurmore this would guarantee entire Benadir being part of a new Federal State which makes some sense

2)Xamar is a very easy place for troubemakers, terrorists, etc to hide. Lots of rubble, demolished buildings, which makes for a security nightmare. I think the size of the city and number of inhabitants is beyond the capacity of the combined Gov/AMISOM

When political common sense prevails in 2016 elections, you will see the common sense to move the capital come to play.

After all this city is the center of Somalia and the place where Darood iyo Hawiye intersect!!!
