famous Somali proverbs

Postby CoolPoisons » Tue May 06, 2008 5:08 am

Marreexaan ma ahee waa ma riixmaan

It's not Marehan, it's Ma rihman (their like wall u cant push)

Marreexaan waxaad u tahay waa yaqaan, wuxuu kuu yahayse ma yaqaan

Marehan know what U are to them but dont know what they're to U.

Waa qaan Marreexaan waa qaaxo kugu maqan

Marehan will never forget what U did to them, they will hunt U down and blast U to hell.

Marreexaan Gedo riman, madaxna timo riman

this proverb's very famous and they say to fockers who keep same opinion and are hardheaded.

Hooyadaa Marreexaan yay ka tahay la'ima odhan?

Waxay asal ahaanteeda ka timid maah maahdani, waxaa diriray labo qoys oo Soomaliya oo mid ka mid ah uu ahaa marreexaan, qoladii mareexaan waxay qabteen nin markaasuu si uu ku baxsado yiri (abtiyaaloow) waxaana uu ogaa ninkasi mareexaanku inaysan dilin wiil ay marreexaanku abti u yihin markii la'isdagaalo, waana la siidaayay wiilkii markii uu tagay ama u tagay qoladiisii ayaa la waydiiyay waxa lagu siidaayay markaasuu yiri abtiyaaloow ha'idilinina, ayaan idhi markasaa waxaa la waydiiyay maadaama la'ogyahay ama wiilku mareexaan abti u'ahayn oo miyaan lagu odhan hooyadaa waa ina ayo? Markaasuu wiilkii yiri "walaahi inaan la'i odhan hooyadaa yeey marreexaan ka tahay?"

This is an embarassing maahmaah. Essentially what it is saying is that Mareexaans are selective in giving/receiving help. They will ask you for help but you will not get any help from them.
