African Union troops in Somalia have killed 42 Al-Shabaab militias and injured scores of others.

Kenya Defence Forces spokesman Emmanuel Chirchir said several others escaped with injuries after they attacked Algibah near the port city of Kismayu.

Major Chirchir said four Al-Shabaab technical vehicles, one water bowser, one lorry and supplies were also destroyed in the process.

Clan resists

He said Al-Shabaab had called on women in Kismayu to provide their fighters with food and water as they battle Amisom troops but some women refused.

“As Amisom troops surround Kismayu, Marehan clans vowed to resist and fight alongside Al-Shabaab but the rest of the clans have welcomed the troops to free the area of the militia,” Mjr Chirchir said.

On Tuesday, Amisom edged closer to seizing Kismayu after the capture of Marka, the third largest port in southern Somalia. (READ: AU troops capture Shabaab stronghold)

The forces pushed the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Shabaab out of the town, which has been one of militants’ key havens since 2008.

this isn't something I am making up, several sites reported this unsubstantiated accusation made by the spokesman of KDF. You should check out his twitter, he makes daily updates, and at the moment on his page they(KDF and apparently Alshabab) are talking about Afmadow being under siege right now lol.

I don't know what the hell all this means but Beesha Sade denied any militia of ours supporting Shishkabaab and demanded apology from the KDF spokesman.

We face a loss of legitimacy and diplomatic cover by a small time Kenyan officer being allowed to our image and name. There should be a Somali President that summons Kenya Defense Minister and lodges a strong protest leading to a sanction of the officer.

On October 16, 2011, Kenya sent several hundred soldiers into Somalia with a fleet of armoured personnel carrier, backed by fighter jets and helicopters to fight Al-shabab, but met on stiff resistance from Al-shabab.

In an attempt to root out Al-shabab from lower Jubba, middle Jubba and Gedo regions, Kenyan warplanes carried out multiple airstrikes on suspected Al-shabab bases, but mainly missed their targets and killed or injured innocent people while destroyed civilian buildings.

Prior to their invasion, Kenya accused Al-shabab for string of kidnappings of Westerners in the coastal resort city of Mombasa, but many Somali-Kenyans believed that the Somali bandits and pirates were behind the kidnappings.

As junior to the world politics in a confrontational manner, Kenya has to learn a lot about their one Year old war with Al-shabab and ask themselves the causes of their failure milatary operation. Yes, it is undeniable that the Kenyan milatary opertion of Southern Somalia is opted to fail, because Kenya has more economic, military and political advantages than boorly equipted Al-shabab militia. Indeed, a one Year prolonged bitter war with Al-shabab, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) with the help of the Somali National Security Forces (NSF) and the Ethiopian National Defence Forces (ENDF) yet to capture the coastal city of Kismayo, Burdubo and Bardere. What a humiliation!

Many Somali intelectuals are so suspicious about the whole purpose of the Kenyan agression toward their territory, and their illegal oil drilling off the Southern coast of Somalia.

“These offshore oil blocks are solely owned by the Republic of Somalia as stipulated in the 1982 UN Common Law on the Sea (UNCLOS). Kenya’s move to sell these oil blocks violates international law” says Abdillahi Mohamud, the lobby’s managing director of The East African Energy Forum.

As Kenyan writer, Donald Kipkorir once wrote on an article titled Why “Kenya and Ethiopia ought to annex and divide Somalia” and posted on the Daily Naiton of Kenya, he received nothing but harsh responses from Somalis around the globe against his unarticulated article.

On last Wednesday, Kenya Defence Forces spokesman Emmanuel Chirchir said “As Amisom troops surround Kismayu, Marehan clans vowed to resist and fight alongside Al-shabab but the rest of the clans have welcomed the troops to free the area of the militia!”

Kenya should know that all Somali’s eyes now are on their actions and the current remarks of the Kenya Defence Forces spokesman major Emmanuel Chirchir’s divisive nature is unacceptable, and his accusations against Marehan clan that fights alongside Al-shabab is a baseless purely fabricated broboganda

In addition to that, Kenya should also know that Somalia is a sovereignty country, and no one can divide and conquare its people and territorial integrity.

he went from saying Marehan actively supports Alshabab in the Sade territory between Afmadow and Kismaayo to now saying Marehan is likely to support Alshabab. WTF is wrong with him.


this isn't just any officer, he is the official spokesman for KDF, and he should be very careful what he communicates, first he made a blatantly false accusation and now this unprecedented suggestiveness, maligned Marehan. this man is clearly not playing a helpful role in the region, his remarks do not go unnoticed.
