Re: Maakhir troops continue carrying out environmental duty
Maakhir cannot afford to have their land which is not on the equitorial zone to have continued deforestation. If the charckol exporters continue their work unharmed, then Sanag will become arid desert land like Bari because of the inadequete rainfall.

Stop brining your tiny, tiny small clan into Somaliweyn forum. I'd rather watch paint dry then read what Madax Kaluuns do.

Re: Maakhir troops continue carrying out environmental duty
I've explained this before and I have to again.
Sanaag, Sool, Bari, and Nugaal have the very same landscape. Absolutely the same. Both areas range from extreme desert to White sands (mainly Sanaag/Bari) to massive green mountainsides. In fact, Nugaal is 70% green pasture, but the big towns like Garoowe, Eyl, and Burtinle are all in the desert, which is easier to navigate and more welcoming to urban life.

Nobody in Bari lives in the heavily wooded areas because they're unlivable, same with Sanaag. Most Maakhrians live in Ceerigabo, Dhahar, Xingalool, Badhan, and Lasqoray, and all of those towns are as arid as anything you're likely to find in Bari. There is no preference for charcoal traders in Sanaag over Bari, its just that Reer Sanaag aren't getting a cut of the profits so they're less welcoming of the trade.
Just getting that out of the way.

Interesting. Didn't know that. Perhaps you could post some upclose shots like the Warsengeli kids here?

Up close as in...I really didn't see anyone post anything.
If you mean aerial google earth shots, I think everyone's seen millions of my screenshots, but I can find some from the mountainside.

I don't mean aerial sattelitte imaging shots but actual pictures taken. If you go to the clan section one of the warsan kids posted a link that says 'caalmadow' with a bunch of actual photos taken of the mountains and shid in Sanag. His name was explosive or something. Pretty beautiful actually.

There are TONS of areas in Bari that look like that, but they're totally uninhabited. Its tough to raise specific livestock in such altitudes and that would cripple the local economy and ravage the food supply of the average nomad.
