V,
It was an excellent trip to Israel. Night life was excellent. Israeli women are beautiful and come in all skin colors & ethnicities. The local folks were very friendly and I did bump into a son of a Yemeni Jew merchant who lived in Somalia, Xamar but left in the 1960s.
During my stay, I did not experience any sort of discrimination. Most people assumed I was a Falasha. Over all, the people were very hospitable & kind. I did not venture into the Palestinian territories.
I was amazed at how resourceful and developed the Israeli state is. They have turned the desert into greenery. I left the country with immense respect and awe at how the nation is. Overall, the govt is democratic unlike their Arab neighbors who all have Kings, Presidents for Life etc.
I do favor friendly relations with the Israel State. They did help push the issue of Somali independence in the 1950s with their support of the SOmali delegation to the UN in 1955 when our Arab brothers were pushing for the delay of SOmali independence to the late 70s. The Israeli state has a great deal of knowledge and skills to help develop our nation.

Re: abdiwahaab
abdiwahaab, you said you did not experience any sort of discrimination and most people assumed you was a Falasha, but do you know the Falasha experience discrimination in israel? i mean, if black Jews are experiencing discrimination, how do you a black Muslim expect fair treatment were you to live there?

Community leaders complain that Falashas suffer clear discrimination because of their skin colour. "It boils down to racism," said Adam Baruch, a Falasha activist.
