How come Somali men don't grow their hair out anymore?

Old school Somalis use to grow out these super afros. I even remember my dad showing me pics from when he was in school in the 70's and everyone there had huge afros.






K'naan has inspired me to take it old school. I've stopped cutting my hair. My only worry is how white people will take when I begin interviewing for jobs?

You need specific hair. Somalis back then used to have thicker hair, now everyone has jileec hair and cannot grow afros. I always grow my hair out for 4 months then cut it, I only get 3 haircuts a year but even still I have to comb my hair for 10 minutes to get it to stand straight, its too curly for a proper afro, I can only get a jew afro.

Majority of Somali's hair could never be a True Afro. We all have some fucked up hair that if water touches it, than it goes wild plus is it me or have people noticed the more darker the person is, the more their hair is straight among Somali's.

^Yeah I think so too the darker the somali man or woman the straighter the hair, whereas the light skin ones usually have harder hair(for somali standards).

As for this topic, I cannot grow an afro an even if I could I would never grow one because it is ugly, wtf are we back in the 70s or what.
