Dream People-A Question

I just discovered something I wrote in a journal type thing nearly 2 years ago, and I still think it's an interesting question, so I'll reproduce it here, and maybe people can tell me what they think. -

I was wondering today about dreams. Probably everyone has had a dream about a person they don't recognise, and woken up really wishing they knew that person, whether for reasons of romance, friendship, sexual attraction or whatever.

What I wondered is are these dream people memories, images you might have caught out of the corner of your eye on the street or in a pub maybe. Or are they a composite, dream people in the other sense as well, your subconcious knowing you better than your waking self does and giving you the companions you desire, only in sleep.

And, assuming one of these is the case and there is no third option, which is the most appealing? I'm not sure. Both have the taint of disappointment, but then perhaps dreams only exist to please the mind at rest, and thinking about them will only lead to frustration. I don't know.

I never thought about some unknown person of my dream. Atleast till now. How old are you

Personally, I dream only about people I know. Either from the very recent past, or all the way back, going years. So far as to include people I haven't seen in ages. Don't ever recall strangers, and my dreams are vivid, and quite lucid.
