important meetings

Post by sahal80 »

After years of clan wars, the southren part of mogadisho has witnessed the birth of a growing, upwardly social class, it was a center of gravity for the non partisans, global al islah, NGOs, american organizations with variety of covers and had a great prosperity.

The reason why hassan sheekh is not a subclanist is bacause he comes from this social class, he worked with elmon, was manager for telecomsomalia, head of the finance at one of the NGOs in nairobi and mogadisho, affiliated with the global ikhwan.
Hassan sheekh was member of the center for research and dialogue since the early 2000s and in the same year he visited america. Its believed that this center to be a cover for america or that this group had ties with them or were known to them and watching them.

This social class with the powerful interests located in the southren part of the capital were only focusing on their concerns not shared by the rest, they had different sub-clan and clan backgrounds. Hassan sheekh was traditionally their point man even professor samatar was saying after his frist visit to xamar that he was welcomed by a good man called hassan sheekh and he took him to every where(this was before his second political visit)

One thing leads to another, to get invited by the G8 and the british monarchy shows the importance of hassan sheekh and that the rest of us have to deal with this man.

somalis pose a direct threat to British security because somali youngster and others are getting radicalized ever since the rise of ICU

the Brits are doing this NGO work for security reasons its not because Hassan sheik mahamoud is important.

The government cannot absolve itself of the responsibility to protect its citizens just because the criminal law cannot, in particular circumstances, serve the purposes," Evans said. He added that the potential danger to Britain of extremists influenced by al-Qaida had shifted to Somalia from the tribal areas of Pakistan, which now accounts for half, rather than 75%, of all terror plots linked to Britain.

Sahal....there is definitely some connection between this Al Islah/Muslim Brotherhood and US/UK.
They want something from Somalia....and its not just security issues.
Hassan Sheikh should make deals to the benefit of Somalia, and stop his mission to build a clan controlled state.

I'm talking about the ruling class and their old ties with the west. What hassan sheekh shows is that people are behind this man, these are not just uk, uk is leading that why the danish diplomat has lost it for nicholas kay. Kenya would have had a chance under the danish diplomat. If it was only about security they would have helped us under any other country but its also about economical and political interests.
I remember reading one of your history threads talking about how the british had saved the ottoman empire againist the christians of russia dispite what the ottomans did to them.
this guy says some thing like that.
UK Living in the glory of its past – By: Farah Amalo

The British never forgave Somalia in choosing the Italians over them during the Trusteeship period. That is why they gave the Haud Reserve Area and the NFD to Ethiopia and Kenya. We Somalis have always had a love hate relationship with Great Britain. We were and still are always suspicious of the British motives in trying to negotiate an end game for the long standing Somali conflict- which is both fraternal and clannish after a long hiatus . More Somali Diaspora chose to live UK than in any other country. UK is a very welcoming country with a lot of freedoms not available in the rest of Europe. The British understand the Somalis better than any European country and has always succeeded in getting theSomali people together by using both the stick of the world community and the carrot of the European Union. In the old Colonial days the British used round up the camel of the Somali Nomads in order to bring them together after a conflict and lock them in a location until they settle their differences. The BBC broadcasting was a tool used by the British extensively to reach the Somali people in areas governments and local administrations could not reach.

Our question today is why hold the London  meeting now? Is it because oil discovery in Somalia or other mineral resources that might get in the hands of the Iranians or the Turks? Having had the opportunity to be a diplomat in Turkey in the late 1980’s & early 90’s I noted that the British and the Turks never liked each other but they respect each other. The British could never get over the sinking of Royal Navy ships by the Ottoman Turks and the Ottoman Turks never forget how the British inspired a revolt against the Ottoman Empirein the Arab countries promising them full independence and nationhood. The present UK government wants to live in the glory of its past. The current UK Foreign secretary’s new world engagement policy is paying off. The fact that he could bring together over 40 countries and stakeholders within a short period should be commended. There will memorandum of understanding other recommendations that will come out of this meeting; let us hope it will be one that will hold together the unity of the Somali people.

 I agree with you. What you call his past financiers are the same class I'm talking about but were not specific clan, they were a mix of nonpartisan and ikhwans that are globally motivated.
