Notable Somalis thread

Post by GeoSeven »

A thread about men and women who have contributed to the world and help portray our people in a good light. Scientists, entrepreneurs, activists, authors, inventors, actors, directors, internationally renown musicians etc. I'll contribute from time to time.

Nuruddin Farah

Internationally renown Somali novelist. He was awarded the 1998 Neustadt International Prize for Literature, Premio Cavour in Italy, the Kurt Tucholsky Prize in Sweden, the Lettre Ulysses Award in Berlin. Farah is also a perennial nominee for the Nobel Prize in Literature, which is one of the only major literary prizes, for which he is eligible, that he has yet to win.
