Somalis can still be united in other ways
We don't need to be under a central authority or be under 1 country. The Somalis I believe can create a new approach. We like to always point our differences but for every difference we have, we share 10 similarities.
Somalis trade and do business with each other and I don't believe its necessary to have different currencies. For instance, Sanaag and Sool do most of their business with Bari and Nugaal. Bari and Nugaal do most of their business with Sool and Sanaag. It doesnt make sense for those nomads and those small business people to be burdened. You dont need a central authority to print out these notes. The different governments in the region can print them out on their own. Of course this means we would all have the same monetary policy
Another thing is free movement. Somalis in Djibouti have mothers from Somaliland and Somalis in Mudug have fathers from Bakool. Our lands must be completely open. No visas. No deportations. Everyone must be allowed to live anywhere or visit anywhere they want. Maybe even share the same passport
We should make sure policies like these are enforced. There are other ways we can unite as a people. Unity doesnt onlu mean 1 central authority.

Re: Somalis can still be united in other ways
I have suggested the Union of Somali republics where trading economic integration cooperation , even adopting same foreign policy could work . But that can only happen if walanweyns relinquishes all claim from Somaliland and have imaan and be happy with what they have. And who knows even at some point Military cooperation to defend Somali interest in the entire Somali peninsula NFD to Jabuuti to Kilinka shanaad to Somaliland and Somalia. But such a union can happen onl y based on equality based on equality that Somalia and Somaliland and jabuuti are all equal the movement of people are easy the borders can be opened and every one can live work trade where he wish. We could have a healthy union between our countries. But i doubt that will happen Somalis, love to submit each other Humiliate each other and force each other and thats why every decade a new chapter of hostilities animosities and hatred occurs , this makes it impossible to agree on anything. So Somalis will keep having deep hatred for each other. This could work, but it isnt meant to be

Re: Somalis can still be united in other ways
Khalid Ali that would even mean our laws being the same such as environmental laws. The level of cooperation would mean we would be countries only on maps with very little sovereignty on the ground. We would only be distinguishable with our different flags.
You are OK with that?
I am sure Somalis just want to govern their own clans. It doesn't go beyond that

Re: Somalis can still be united in other ways
There is NO one Somalia anymore. It has to be divided in regions ruled by qabil. Nothing like Qabil to UNITE Somalis. Look at the successes of Somaliland and Puntland. Pure great example. Why is the rest of Somalia big cities not as successful? I mean, a big port like Kismayo is virtually useless. Because no specific qabil owns it. Look at Xamar-- useless. No single Hawiye own Xamar. Where as Somaliland-- is owned by a united ISaaq-- and Puntland a United Majeereten not just "Darood"!
Qabil rules. ALaaahu Akbaar!

Re: Somalis can still be united in other ways
The Somalis are one nation, with one language and one God,but they hate each other and they are fighting each other since the begining of times. They tried three times to create Greater Somalia and three times they failed to achieve the dream.
Ahmed Gurey failed in 1543 ( He was defeated by Portugal and Ethiopia)
Mohammed Abdullah Hassan "Mad Mullah failed" in 1920 ( He was defeated by Italy,England,Ethiopia and his own countrymen)
Siad Barre failed in 1977 (He was defeated by Russians,Cubans and Ethiopians)

Mad Mullah was stealing camels from Isaaq. If he wanted to unite somalis, why didn't he start with his own tribe under xabash?
Siad Barre was only fighting the Xabash to steer the limelight away from internal corruption and misrule.
Abdijohnson that would never work because of the inherent problem in Somalis - corruption and tribalism.
