How to build power plants in SL

Post by Futurist »

How can we build power plants and what's the best location for power plants in SL. Power needs to reach the big cities and towns.

The big 6 cities: Hargeisa, Boorama, Burco, Las Anod, Berbera, Erigavo.

The big towns and important small towns: Oodweyne, Badhan, Gebiley, Buuhoodle, Arabsiyo, Dhahar, Xudun, Sheikh, Ainaba, Taleex, Gar Adag, Laq Qoray, Ceel Afweyn, Wajaale.

Smaller towns and villages: smaller scale sustainable solar & wind schemes for villages.

How do we fund this?

That won't happen because Somaliland doesn't care about development, a prestigious school was made for orphans and they kicked them all out and admitted government children into the school. Such a government only wants to feed their belly, whilst duping fools such as yourself.

You do know erigabo is strictly gadhweyn city aka habar yonis , we control all the ministries and the mayorship, all the business, all the tall buildings in erigabo is owned by gadhweyn every single one built in erigabo, I bet a million pound if u can prove otherwise,

We live in jidali which is about 45 kilometers east of erigabo next to yubbe midhiso and kulimiye.

So my walanweyn friend u can claim the other tuulo but leave erigabo out of this.

Wind power. One decent wind turbine can power 3000 European houses thats almost an entire 20 villages in our region.

We need wind and solar.

We need the private companies to invest in energy.

We need to give anyone investing in local energy to be given tax breaks and no tariff should be imposed at the port.

With this in place we can easily meet 20-30% of the energy needs within 5-10 years.

We need large shareholding enterprises similar to Telesom/SomGas.

Its easy. Why not the somalilnd government create stock market? The diaspora will buy shares and within a year we can start an entire company.

I just don't understand how that simple idea never occurred to 4 million supposedly educated folks.

Nah stock is a lot of work and our people don't have the skills, infrastructure or knowledge to operate that.

They understand shares better.

I am sure if you said you need 500 investors with minimum investment of US$10,000 with returns in five years---you can easily raise minimum $5m. That's enough to set up 3.6 megawatt solar farm (8,000 megawatt hours per year).

It can power 1,000 homes.

So you need $50m for 10,000 homes and so forth.

Same idea . What stoping them from opening a little market where shares are sold? All you need is computers and a decent large space.

Not the same.

I don't believe we lack funds. We lack fursad iyo farsamo.

We can bridge the gap. The problem is we want to go from zero to hero. We need to set different stage visions. We need to go from A to Z by going through all those letters in between at one step at a time.

I like to see our leaders ask every soul what they good st and what contributions can they make.

Then we will put a plan together in different stages like the SpaceX.

Better yet we can setup an energy fund but rather than target individual investors we can raise the money from the big SL companies.

We can set the target minimum $1 million investment and try to aim at minimum 10 firms.

I know Dahabshiil, Telesom, Omaar, Deero, GSK, SBi, Omar Aideed, SomCable and many others can easily provide a $1m each seed money.

We can call it SL Strategic Investment Fund.

To power Hargeisa we need about $1 billion.

No.

Morocco who is building one of the largest solar farms at $9b will power about 1.1 million homes.

Read about Noor concentration solar farm.
