(SomaliNet) In an incident that wounded two people, police opened fire to disperse hundreds of demonstrating students at Kinshasa University on Friday, a university official said.
According to reports, the students were protesting against a strike by teachers in the Democratic Republic of Congo and had stoned teachers' cars before police intervened.
Two students may have been shot in the leg, university official said. The official said one was a second-year medical student, but that details on the second had not come through.
Students are angry because teachers have been on strike for three months over a wage battle which has forced the postponement of exams. - Sapa-AFP
